Just curious do your parents support your computing habits or do they get pissed you spend your hard earned money on tech stuff.

I know my parents think I'm crazy for having three pc's in my room...

They support it for the most part, because they know it will potentially lead to other things. But when I told them I wanted to spend $800 on two computer monitors, they just about went nuts.

My dad is a business owner, so he doesnt like to see me excessively spending money. But he does it to, so the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Would be nice to have that kinda "support".

But that completely aside, at least you have tasteful mods and not just the biggest baddest GPU's you can find and then sit on 3D05/6 all day gloating about your scores.

Haha, yeah. I pay for it all so it's not worth it to me to keep buying $500+ video cards every 6 months, mainly because I couldn't come close to affording it, but also because I know that's no way to get any respect.

My parents would have freaked out if I wanted to spend $800 on two monitors. Heck, I don't think any of their computers themselves even cost that much.

I suppose there is an upside to moving out, getting a job, and becoming financially independent of my parents. All they can do now is shake their heads when I'm talking to them about getting another computer (the one in my sig is only 8 months old, and I have another one that's about two years old).

The downside is a lot more responibility, and much less free time.

Yea I know my Folks just dont get it with me either! Actually they think I am quite looney tunes for doing what I do and cant understand the obsession that I have with all of it.

Ever since my car wreck I have been at my folks house on the Mainland recovering and I just have to do something to be creative and use my mind! Considering that I have been working with my hands since I was 16 years old its kinda hard not tearing stuff apart and redoing it, or just creating stuff!

on the carbon fibre issue I had some thoughts about using some cf in my case designs mainly for its lightweight properties and its capability of withstanding extreme temps

It was my mother-in-law throwing it out, it's not like I am digging through other people's trash. LOL

If I move the PSU out I can fit another mobo in there or even 3 total, just gotta move the drives out as well. There's plenty of room on the top tier for that stuff.

yeah i pull the blades out. on the back side were the round sticker is at. pull the sticker. then you see a tinny snap ring. pull it and the fan will come out

Well, this weekend i got my new Stacker 830 (got the Black version) so i took the camera from work to take a few shots of it. Now that i look at half the pics i took, they all turned out like shat (damn me and my shakey hands, lol)

I sold my case to a friend of mine so i had my rig running like this for a while

Most of the Build shots were waaaaay too blurry, so i guess when i do some cable management (just kinda tossed it all together, i like rebuilding anyways) i will take better pics.

I was too embarrassed to show the inside of it, the cable management is near non-existent.

FUnny thing, I dont get teh problem of my parents not wanting me to spend my money I have been building computers for a long time and because of this my mom didnt want my parts on her CC anymore I got my own So now I order parts and pop them in befre they can notice. And yes I pay all the bills on my own completely seperate from my parents

My dad helped fund a portion of my computer. This was right after Christmas so I considered it part of my Christmas present. He also pays me for certain types of work too, so that also helps. As a general rule however, I plan to wait until I have a job before I buy any more computer parts. Any pointers on getting a job? lol

Well since my parts dont come in till wednesday and friday, You have to wait for pics.

And I don't fell like taking pics of my old setup (which is sitting on a table)

Also I guess you could say techincally my parents buy my parts. I work with my dad part time (he is a low voltage contractor for a construction firm here) for 10 bucks an hour running phone and data in warehouse and office buildings. Instead of paying me, they give me thier credit card and I order what I need (my mom approves it all first, so I don't spend 1500 bucks when I say 500)

LOL, i got no problems workin, its just finding a job that i found is the hardest part.

I will upload some pics of my Silverstone TJ06 Full Tower case when I get my custom wiring done for my P.S.U by Pc Power & Cooling so I can get my wirng all neat and tidy like you had it Carl.

@ Uncle David218...sorry about that kid ,I was not trying to take a poke at you! Thats good that you spend you're money on that stuff, I know when I was you're age I was not as smart with my money! Plus back then we did not have that kind of stuff and it was not realistic that someone you're aage would have stuff like that either! I think the baddest thing out at that time was the newer version of a Nintendo box and computers had absolutely no appeal what so ever back then unless you were a toatl Nerd and geek like pocket protector kind of Nerd...LOL... and we beat those guys up!

now when you get to the pic were I'm showing how to test the leds take good note and test every LED and test them when you wire them one by one. long end + short end -
Because it really sucks when you get done and one of the LEDs don't work lol.and the wires well i just use heat shrink from lite to lite then you can wire right to the fan wires or as i do solder then to the fan itself. note the RED like 1.6 and the blues around 4 to 6v if you think there brighter at 6v well I find some will turn green at anything above 5v so when you get the LEDs ask for resisters to get the volts you wont from the 12v feed
