thats my attempt on getting a tribal design large enough to cover the side panel, yet simple enough coz i need a bigger bit to work something that large....

ok, maybe its ok if people think its from transformer coz that series rock! lol new movie?? the latest animation of transformer i saw originates from between 8 - 15 years ago.......

etching mostly done under the guidance of the nice people over at bit-tech.net mod forums... they got wicked etching there....
a little tip on etching probably is to do everything patiently. get everything as even as possible and slow as possible... the more time u put into it, the better the end result will be.

radiation effect is probably camera effect lol but getting everything on 1 colour theme will definitely add some effect to it (i.e. red=hot, blue=cold, green=alien, purple=.... well u get the idea), but the biggest contributor to that is the painted-red metal frame. my only pet peeve on that is the BLUE jingting fan.... i couldnt get a decent, quiet, 40mm fan with red led to replace it...

seeing in person will take away the radiation effect, but u will notice the fine brushed aluminium finish on the front panel and high quality paint job, both from silverstone..... I recommend their case any day plus it burns smaller hole on ur wallet compared to Lian-Li's....

ps: im working on another silverstone, the lascala series, LC13, to match the theme with the main rig, but working on HTPC is a pain... hopefully i can get it done before winter comes.... but then again i never do *expert* modding or anything... just abit of dremel works and a few cans of spraypaint to get the theme i'm aiming for. so, @Dutch, my red case above was modded in a little under a week, about 2hrs/day, and the whole day on a saturday... mostly becoz i gotta wait for the paint to dry....

My advice is to get the extra sound cables/USB cables and tuck them underneath the CD/DVD drive.

Also get the power cables (24 + 8 pin) and run them along the side of the mobo tray, cable tie around the posts that the mobo sits on, that will clear you up some more space.

I can get a shot of my case if you guys want.. but it's just a plain brushed ali Silverstone TJ-06 with no side panel or flash lights (or any bling at all).
It's possibly the tamest case on the street.
Guess I'm a bit of a sleeper..

The aluminum front panel of an 06 is enough to cover the bling requiirements

Haha, I have thought of disconnecting the led's to further downgrade the bling factor but then I wouldn't know when Vista is in that fancy hibernation/standby/quick resume mode.
It was the tamest case I could find with good cooling and a semi-reasonable price.

The case as off today after the 7900gto/x installation (added 120mm exhaust fan, moved 80mm exhaust fans to outside of case)

heres a few pics of mine, the first one is about 6 months old. sorry its so blurry.

I can't hide the other cables under my optical drive. I've got my second 120mm intake fan under there. As for the power cables, they aren't quite flexible enough to slide along the mobo and then bend up to plug in over such a short distance, nor are the USB cables that they are running with. I'll probably do some more tinkering with it when I get home from work in a week or so. I'll also get some more pics to show how incredibly roomy it is in the case, and having those cables snug against the mobo tray leaves plenty of room for airflow over them.


How you guys manage to have so much light coming from your cases I don't know. My older PC has 4 LED's on the front bezel, and some on the internal fans with an acrylic window. I had to turn the damn thing off every night so the lights didn't bother me. Hell, even with just the power and HDD light on my current Stacker I get annoyed by the light.

The HD mod I did over a year ago , the fans do not come with LEDs you cant get a good fan with LEDs so I put my own LEDs in. If the fan is all black I take it apart paint the blades sivler mealtic and then the color of the leds show real nice I have pics of step by step On putting LEDs in your fans If you guys are intersted in them

its cheep to do leds are 25 cents apace here and a buck or two of some heatshrink one rester depending on color reds leds like 1.7v and blue like 4v a drill and soldering gun and your done

Where do you drill in from, the side?

yeah i drill the holes just down from the corner about an inch and aim the led strait across at the other corner give a nice pattern on a painted fan and a clear fan give off a curved look. let me find a pic of one of the painted ones

How do you paint them, do you take the blades off? How do you do that?

Haha, so I just realized that I have a 19" LCD collecting dust, so why not make use of it!? Nobody else in the family needs it, they all have laptops.

None of my friends want it, so I figured, why not have it connected to my notebook part time to watch movies on from bed!
