I love that scoop/display Curtybob.
Somebody did some sanding LD
Very nice work.

Not so much a case, but sorta. More pics once I get everything ready to go.

But anyways, I happened to be bored as hell today and started setting up my Infinity 975X/G today, then realized I hated setting it on the box it came in. I mean, it works and all...but it just doesn't feel solid at all.

So I remembered I had some unused 1.5" MDF in the garage that I had glued together for my sub project a couple months ago, and I also happened to have a motherboard tray from an Aspire X-something-or-other case that I had yet to throw away. Combine the two (along with some felt pads), and this beast was born.

It also doubles as one helluva shield, should anybody ever attack me with a sword or something...

Anyways, I was going to mount some random brackets to tie fans and whatnot to, but I decided I'd keep it clean for now, and attach things as necessary as time goes on. I also though about making two levels of sorts, with the motherboard on top and the psu, hard drives, and cd-rom drive on the bottom. That sorta fell through though when it started raining. Meh.

UncleDavid218
Haha, great idea. I might have to do that myself.

Thanks. When you do it though, don't use felt. I think rubber would have been a better idea so it wouldn't slide around as much. A well, live and learn. smile.gif

Edit: My friend Chuck helped too.

I think I need to rig up something to support PCI cards, I don't like the way that X1800XT fits there. Plus I'd rather have the whole bit stand up anyways, so if any of the block fail the fluid won't just sit on the motherboard. So anyways now I'm drilling out the rivets over the plate on the back of that Aspire case...we'll see how it turns out.
Evil_inc
beer helps everything lol biggrin.gif
red930
Okay, so I think it's better now. And now she's packing some sweet features - like front-panel USB ports, audio ports, and dual temperature display!

I coulda done a lot better job attaching the rear panel if I had planned it out better I think. But it's pretty solid, more than strong enough for my puroses anyways. *shrugs*

Just doesn't look all that nice from the back. (to me)

rofl - It also doubles as one helluva shield, should anybody ever attack me with a sword or something...

That is some cool little overclockers desk thingio. Are you going to run it like that forever more or is it just for when you take it out of it's case to 'fix'
soundx98
Very impressive Dan.
Have you thought about covering the whole thing with a flowered blanket when it's not being used?

Lol, well the plan is just to keep it like this until I'm comfortable with it, then transfer it to my V2000...chances are it'll stay there until a Lanparty board for Conroe is released.

I have actually, good to keep the dust off it. Unfortunately the girl that owns the blanket doesn't live in town anymore. smile.gif

That reminds me soundx98, what is the exact model number for this beauty.

I've been meaning to ask you for a while.

I am so getting one when I have some spare dosh.

I didn't feel like spending money on a new case, so I took apart this old Antec Case I got from a friend and cut holes all over it and fitted my beast inside it.

side view showing pump inside, two 3 hd's one below pump, one on side of pump on the right side of the case with a hole to show off the RaptorX, 1 97mm fan blowing cool air into my PWMIC which idles at 27C and load is 35C smile.gif

top close up view of tubes.

side view with side panel closed, I will have to replace the window as I made holes for another board sad.gif

this the side hole that shows off the RaptorX

from view smile.gif

top view with hole for 120mm fan "intake"

back of case showing connections, radiator and 7900GTX smile.gif

just another side view biggrin.gif

now for some close up shots biggrin.gif

This case looked like this before..
http://www.antec.com/productImagePack.php?ProdID=93703
but i cut it opened and stuck a beast in her, while keeping the cable management tight and ventilation flowing.
my temps are as follow:

cpu/pwmic/chipset/gpu idle/load

30-45/27-35/30-35/33-42C ambient 24-30C
I had this case sitting around doing nothing so i gave it a new look.

I have seen that somewhere before?!?

Looks like the V1000,
Only 5 drive bays.The V2000 has 7.
If your looking to purchase the V1000 check the lenth of your power supply because some do not fit into the ps compartment.Too short, have to make a home made bracket because it will stick out the back. This is what i read from other users experiences.
centy
Thanks i'll keep that in mind about the PSU.

I think the V2000 Plus is the one with 7 bays, so I'm guessing that its the V2000. But I need to know for sure from the man that built that PC. I don't want one that's really really similar, I want that one! The one in the pic ideally lol, complete with tidy cables and seasonic PSU biggrin.gif
soundx98
That's a Lian Li V1000 ($189.99} with windowed Side Panel Option (another $49.99).
It's got an OCZ Powerstream 600W in it (I just needed to remove a bracket)

LIan Li has come out with some perforated bay covers that helped with air flow even nore.
Relocated the internal fan to the bottom on the DVD drive and changed it from an ADDA to another Thermalright A2018 Blue LED.

Couple of sloppy sata cables but was testing before I buttoneed everything up/
(Don't worry Centy I have the all the cables hidden away nice and discretely. I'll take the finished pics soon.)
Looks even better with the lights down low. (like me)

All the silver stuff inside the front Panel is painted black now so it looks better head on.

w00t some new pics for the /img/hardware/soundx98 directory on my pc biggrin.gif

I really like that PC man.

Ever considerd a SATA dvd-rw just for the thin cable? I have lol

Me too! I want nothing more than to just get rid of these damn fdd/ide cables. I'm also pretty irritated that I still need to keep a floppy drive in my system because it hasn't been completely phased out by now. Ugly wires make Sanguine sad sad.gif
red930
Hmm...might have to find some of those perforated bay covers for my V2000, I rely kinda heavily on the open case, it really helps out since I have a lot of positive airflow in the case.

They should make SATA floppy drives. Not for any particular reason except I like the noise they make when they're reading. biggrin.gif

Jeeze. Nothing from Lian-Li is cheap

damn soundx98, everything is upside down biggrin.gif

Same here with my V1200 Lian Li.I found one site that carries the window for the V1200.The window for the V1200 is custom.Lian Li does not make them for the V1200,only the V1000 & the V2000.Strange they never have made one.

n1cely done, the pinkish red is a refreshing color, dont see it very often !
ReelFiles
Note:
When a guy does something in that color, it's called "peach", not pink.

LOL JK

Don't see those cases too often, looks good.
n1ce_hat
yeah cable management is pretty decent as well, better than mine anyway sad.gif

What's that thing on the PSU?
JiveTurkey
I have to disagree with the filenames. There's no such thing as good VD.

Not that I'd know anything about that...

Is there a reason that you haven't got the memory plugged into the same colour slots?

yes, at the tome i took the pictures I had my second bad batch of RAM.. I wasn't really worried how it'd boot at the time of the pictures.. rolleyes.gif New build coming this week!
UncleDavid218
This afternoon I decided to re-do the loop... it looked too compact and cramped. I like it now.

red930
Might wanna wire-tie the hose of the chipset block up a bit higher to take some of the strain off it.

Looks much better though, I seem to never get it right my first time doing it either.rolleyes.gif

heh thanks, you can't tell in the picture but it has two clamps on it already

Another reason I changed it is because I didn't feel comfortable with some of the strain on the chipset... it's much much better now.
SanguineI
Beautiful looking WC setup you got there. Your coolant looks similar to mine, is it PC ice or whwat?

Plus I totally know what you mean by getting bored and doing stuff like that. Every once in a while I'll get bored and spend an hour or 2 trying to rewire my case to give it a cleaner look. I also have like 10 feet of 7/16" tubing sitting in my closet that I desperately want to use but don't have anything to use it for. I'm sure I'll have a need for it someday though.
UncleDavid218
It's Fluid XP+ Extreme... but looks very similar to PC Ice

And about being bored... well I just beat HL2E1 this afternoon... my friends were working... so I just went for it

I meant like suspend some wire or something from the top of your case to 'raise' the whole tube a bit. Maybe it's just the angle I'm seeing it at, but I also remember having to do this on mine.
UncleDavid218
OH I see I see

Tomorrow after work I'll look to see if it will work! Thanks!
