I want this, so very badly. It is a complete waste of money (for myself), but it looks so freaking awesome. And it's HUGE!

I'm such a Lian-Li fanboy. sad.gif

The hard drive loading looks amazing!

I noticed a new trend at Computex with manufacturers putting optical drives on the side. How is this any better than putting them on the front?
Compxpert
Pretty killer and I do love Lian-Li. Huh Kash I'm pretty used to side loading my hdds as I still use an Antec Lanboy. I feel that it tends to be easier to load hdds from the side as opposed to the front.
Nerm
I must say I really do like the design of that case. smile.gif

I wonder about the price tag?

I'd guess around $450. This is their second statement case, it'll be a lot.

blink.gif Ill admit its a sick case, but how can you justify that price?

It's not - it's cosmetic and keeps a clean look on the front. At least that's how I see it.

I was talking about the optical drives, not the hard drives. Side-loading hard drives makes perfect sense.

Dammit, I had that idea years ago.

*sigh*

I NEVER capitalize on ideas! Hopefully people will start doing it though.

Sweet looking case, not much hard drive room though. Really prefer more, just so you can space them out better.

Sorry my mistake in reading lol. $450 seems a little rough for such a thing. I was thinking more along the lines of $350 tho for this one. Lian-Li are always expensive for cases.

I was about to say that this is the first Lian-Li case that I thought actually looked good, but then they had to go fudge it up by putting the optical bays on the side. What an idiotic move. Almost everyone I know has their PC case off to the side against a desk or table. Both my home and work PC's have the right side blocked off, thus making the drive bays on this case inoperable without moving it anytime I needed to use it.

I thought Lian-Li was supposed to be smart when it came to functionality?

EDIT:

Lian-Li isn't the first to do this. I'm pretty sure this is in the HP Blackbird, which has been out for awhile, so if anything, Lian-Li is the knockoff here.

You can face the optical drives in either direction. If you look at the pictures, the slots are on both sides. I still think it's silly, but your concern is not valid tongue.gif

Ah, okay...true. Though I still think it's silly as well.

Yeah I'd have to agree with that. Not sure what purpose they serve being at the sides as opposed the the traditional front. If they are just trying to be different by doing this then they are doing a terrible job at it.

withstupid.gif I guess you've got more room to mount case fans on the front, but then again the sides of the optical drives are still going to block air flow. huh... I really dont understand why they did this.

notice I say SATA backplane... as in, the things that server cases have been using for decades tongue.gif

it's just nice to see it used in a consumer-intended case which has such a nice layout, unlike the Blackbird case which is horrendous inside...
LivingGhost
My PC's side also faces me, so this case is utterly perfect for me.

Damn it. sad.gif
hardnrg
me too... since I switched to LCDs, I have a whole load of room at the back of my desk, so I moved my tower round behind my monitor... I can even get another one over on the right side and STILL have all the desk available in front of the monitors (when I tidy it lol)

I think two opticals would just about clear the monitor, AND a top mounted radiator biggrin.gif
LivingGhost
You STILL haven't finished that rig?

It must be like four years, already.
paulktreg
I'd love that case. Not a coloured LED in sight. Plain, simple and well built but could I justify the price? No!.
