Would appreciate recommendations on a power supply for my new build. I'm a rookie at this business so came here for expert advice.
I need a good quality power supply with modular cabling; adequate power to run my system as I've described it; and something not too noisy. As you know, in the Antec 900 case, the power supply is located at the bottom rear of the case.
Forgot to mention in my system description that my OS in XP SP2 Home edition.
ALSO: I've not yet decided on RAM for the mobo but I want 2x2GBs that is very compatible with this mobo.
Recommendations (as many as I can get) for the power supply and RAM would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks ................Bob

Assuming that you are talking about the system in you profile (E8400 + 8600GT) then you won't need a particularly powerful PSU.
That said, with the DFI motherboard you'll likely want something with an 8-pin CPU connector.
For quiet modular PSUs my default recommendation is usually the
Corsair HX520.
That would also give you plenty of room for future upgrades.
If you don't want to spend as much as that, then something like an
Enermax Liberty 400W would do just fine and still has an 8-pin connector.
Given a choice, I'd take the Corsair despite it being a bit overpowered for what you have. It should certainly last a while and you'd likely be able to carry it over to future builds.

The Liberty 400W sounds like a good choice to me

I'll second the Corsair option. Those are mighty fine PSUs. 520 should be enough.

Corsair gets my vote too - I have 2 Corsairs, main reason for me, apart from the build quality was the quietness and 5 year warranty. I have a TX650W and a VX450W, both run at below 22 db, unless you load them to over 400w.

For your system, the Liberty 400w would be enough.

During my time on the DFI and DIY-Street forums one particular topic came up time after time, the power supply.
DFI boards are particularly choosy as far as power supplies go and, if I recall correctly, a good quality power supply of at least 480W was the accepted minimum.
If would go a little higher for your system and would like to suggest the Corsair HX620W or OCZ GameXStream 600W.
Hope this helps.

The Corsair TX650W gets my vote for solid rails, quiet operation and great build quality. If you don't need or want modular you simply can't beat the Corsair.
Is it more than you need right now? Surely!
But it gives you some room to grow and you don't have to worry about it being on the edge all of the time.
And Paul knows his stuff when it comes to power supplies. And he is right about the DFI boards. Back in the NF4 days it was 480W minimum with at least 26A on the 12v rail.
Don't know how applicable that is to the newer DFI boards, but in my mind better safe than sorry. Especially considering some of the outstanding deals available these days on super power supplies.

Thanks for your reply and to others who replied as well. The Corsair 650 is on order! It sure boosts one's confidence to get as much agreement as I did here. Thanks again.

You won't be disappointed.
I've been running the TX750W model for a few months now and it has been outstanding. So much so that I've retired my trusty OCZ 700W GameXStream to backup and trouble shooting duty.
