I have onboard Dual LAN ports, Intel® Gigabit LAN and Intel® 10/100Mbps LAN. My question is what one should I be using? I have Cable 8000/512 service but it seems that one may perform better for gaming than the other. What has me asking is it seems to work better on the 10/100 connection. Shouldnt it work better with the Gigabit? I probably did not search for the right words but if anyone has a link to where to get info on this I would grateful.
Current Router is a Linksys WRT54G with the latest firmware.
Modem is a Ambit U10C018

It doesn't matter either way if you're limited by your cable modem.
I'd use the gigabit.

So they should perform equally considering my modem?
Do I need to make any changes to the settings to get the gigabit to work the same. I ask because it seems to be slower even though my speed tests show no difference.
Thanks for responding.

hmm...well it wouldn't matter either way the connection would also be limited by the router. The WRT54G is a 10/100 it doesn't support gigabit. I'm not sure as to why one port is slower than the other on your network. If it really is a big difference, just use the one that works faster.

Use the intel NIC.....I am assuming NIC 2 is something else. Don't think it will be a huge difference on either but always go for intel or broadcom for NIC's....they have good software and drivers.
