I have a coworker who said that a lot of people have been having issues with FF corrupting thier OS. Has anyone heard of this? I think he needs to eat a little less paste.

I have never heard of, seen, Googled, read about or experienced Firefox corrupting XP.
I have had Firefox become fat as a country hog, but no corruption.
So yes, hide the paste and call the paste support group. May be time for intervention.

I have a coworker who said that a lot of people have been blaming their computer issues on FF when they keep corrupting their OS by doing stupid stuff.
I fixed your post for you.

I have been using FF for over 5 years now, and I have yet to see it corrupt anything.....Sounds like hogwash to me. Something that is getting more and more popular like FF probably wouldn't have that problem. If it did, the word of mouth spreading of it would slow to a crawl and that is simply not the case.
that is just my 2 cents....I by no means have seen it all. So just because I have never seen it doesn't mean that it hasn't happened. Could be an add-on or something that I don't use.

I have never had any issues with it at all. I just thought it would be interesting to ask.
I also agree with the post edit from waco.

are they using a bunch of add-ons? maybe they keep installing bad add-ons. Thats the only way I can think of it corrupting the OS.

He said that he has heard this from clients and forums, not personal experience. So, I don't know if they are running lots of addons.

Even running addons...they don't do anything that could corrupt an OS.

You can download uncertified add-ons/plugins that could essentially do whatever they want...
I agree though, I've run Firefox for quite awhile and have never had anything be corrupted by it...

At that point the discussion trends back to stupid users blaming the software they use.

Waco's edit is perfect. I have never heard of this happening, nor can I concoct a way that it even might.
BTW, FF3 RC1 is great.

I wish there were more add-ons, though.

As shown in the firefox extension thread, I use a TON of addons, both at home and work, and have never had any corruption issues, nor have I ever formatted either computer since initial setup either. Furthermore, when setting up PCs at work, I'd always install Firefox and never heard any issues (I wouldn't make it default, I'd leave that up to the user, but I know plenty of people that prefer it). Even FURTHERmore, I even have Firefox installed on most of our servers, including our mail server. Trust me...if there were issues with it, I'd hear about it in a heartbeat.
