in my attempts to get my comp to run as quietly as possible (which still running fast), i began looking into Seagate Barracuda V Serial-ATA 150 drives (2.5 decibels = 25db(A) ). i then remembered that if i use one of these as my hard drive, i will have better airflow in my case since the cable is so small. after thinking about the cable i realized that i had never seen a uv reactive sata cable before. does anyone know if they exisit yet? or seen one before?

honestly man with sata being so new to the market, i would doubt if there is. however, if the technology catches on, you can count on there being some.. i haven't searched everywhere for some, but it would probably take some work in doing so.

you could probably get some of the uv paint and spray then that way i know one guy i here did that with his cables.

cool, thats sounds like a good idea. i think that i will hold off upgrading to a SATA hard drive for now though(not something that i feel i need that much at the moment. can't justify getting another hard drive when i still have a nice amount of room on my current drive.) maybe i'll wait till after mid 2004 when the 2nd generation of SATA is suppose to be coming out (supporting 300 instead of 150) and after the prices drop a bit. If i buy a sata drive, i'll probably end up painting the cable tongue.gif . thanks for the help
a sata review

how quiet is your computer?
Trakfast11
at the time it was running with the fan on the radiator running at 30% (this was when my processor was running at 2400Mhz). i'm not sure what the dba rating was, but besides the hard drive noise, there was just a low humm from the 120mm fan on the radiator (which was hard to hear from a distance). Now that my cpu is running at 2512.8Mhz, i've upped the speed of my fan to 40%, so it is slightly louder, but still fairly quiet. (about to reduce the hard drive noise issue! bought the Smart Drive 2002 hard drive enclosure. also bought another quiet fan that i will use for the blowhole mod i'm planning on doing. Once i have that i'm thinking it will be a nice idea to reduce the radiator fan to 30% again.

Now for the reason i came back to this post. found some sata cables that are not the ordinary ones, encase anyone was wondering where they could find some different types of sata cables. these are not like the uv ones i was looking for, but this site has two colors other than red and also has a glow in the dark sata cable. looks like we are getting closer B)
p.s: whoops! forgot the site. here

ill be running sata soon.. right now all you can get is colored cables.. to make it UV you are going ot have to do as advised above and get some paint..
