Anyways that GP2X I bought never materialized because some "things" came up and I had to cancel my order...
rolleyes.gif

Yea... Yea...

Anyways I'm looking for a good MP3 player (I don't care about the other crap that the GP2X had, if it can do that stuff than great!) around $150. As for capacity I really don't need anything bigger than 10GB and even that is quite a bit...

Heres what I'm looking at now:
Cowon iAUDIO 7 8GB <--$140 (definitely leaning towards this or the Zune)
Zune 4GB <--$125
Creative Zen 8GB<--$120
Cowon iAUDIO 7 4GB <--$113
Archos 104 6GB <--$97
Creative Zen 4GB <--$91
Archos 105 2GB <---$76
SanDisk Sansa c250 <--$40 biggrin.gif I'm kidding...

What do you guys think?

Also if you know any better technical specs feel free to chime in as the unit will be driving my Grado SR60s...

I really like the Zune, but Cowon's audio quality is where it's at smile.gif
LivingGhost
Cowon!
Fireonice
ZUNE!!! You wont regret it and now you dont have to use the zune software.
Andrewr05
Yea Like I said I'm definitely leaning towards the iAUDIO 7, seems to be a really nice quality player...
BUT...
As much as I'm gonna use it I may lean more towards a cheaper MP3 player and possibly forego COWONs great audio quality...
*shrug*

I dunno...

Persuade me...

That Cowon player looks ace! If it has good audio quality, I'd go that way, but personally, I have no idea about what's good now laugh.gif I use an iRiver H10 6GB, aka the brick, but it works fine for me smile.gif
Andrewr05
Yea I suppose I should mention that I don't care about size either, as long as its not the size of an 80s cell phone than I'm happy...
biggrin.gif

Some of those iRivers look quite nice too.

I'm almost Tempted to place an order for another GP2X...

These things look quite nice as well:
Toshiba Gigabeat U-series I can get a 2GB Silver model for $57

Any other suggestions?

The iRiver Clix 4GB is quite nice, although I think the Cowon will be better wink.gif

The 16gig i7 tongue.gif
I have no use for 16GB of music...
Even when I had a shi... crap load of music on my computer (by my standards) a few years ago I only had like 9GB.
As of right now I only have about 2GB...

It does look pretty good, however the Cowon does look like my best bet...
However I don't know which Cowon I want:
iAUDIO 7 4GB
iAUDIO U3 4GB
iAUDIO U5 4GB

They are all within $10 of each other and they all seem to be VERY similar in their specifications.
I'm stumped...
kingdingeling
You linked to the Cowon U5 8GB, and I think that's the one you should get wink.gif More space for roughly the same price, and it looks ace smile.gif

Oh, so I did...
tongue.gif

It does look pretty sleek...

I can never make up my mind, I think I might just bite the bullet and get a D2. biggrin.gif
It has awesome audio quality as well and I watch my movies on the go and play some of my movies on my TV with the TV-out...

Jeez, I'm never gonna make up my mind. sad.gif

Its a good deal though: sad.gif
COWON D2 4GB + 8GB SD card and carrying case <--$189.99
*sigh*

or maybe I'll just get a damn GP2X F200 with the touch screen, I wanted one before I should just quit pussyfooting around and get it...

Or maybe I'll get a PSP, that would be pretty schweet, I can hack around with that...

*sigh again*

Yea, I'm definitely leaning towards the iAUDIO 7 for just an MP3 player.
The only thing is I'm second guessing myself as to whether or not I want to get a PMP (which obviously plays MP3's as well, but does so much more) or just get a normal MP3 player...

Get a normal MP3 player, leave the playing to something else! laugh.gif The iAUDIO 7 still has the edge on looks, if it's upgradeable with an SD card, go ahead and order that, BUT ORDER IT! laugh.gif laugh.gif

I should stop screwing around and just order the 7 but I really think I might like a PMP better...
rolleyes.gif

I can squeeze out another $50 if I shoot for a PMP.
I would assume some of those COWON PMPs have as good sound quality as their standalone MP3 players.

I suppose I should reevaluate if where and when I'm gonna use the device and such.

After thinking about it earlier I probably could go for a PMP, I have more video than music and a PMP (depending on the model) would allow me to view video, e-books (I've got a few), music of course and other things...

Someone come to my house and punch me in the mouth.
I need to just pick a damn device and order it...

Anyways I'm sitting right here in front of my computer and I'm talking about getting a PMP closedeyes.gif
I probably wouldn't use it that often outside of my house or at work.

*sigh*

You know what I would have just used the Cowon D2 for its MP3 playback and its TV-out and not really watched movies on it other than that.

Gives me a better idea:
iAUDIO 7 4GB <--$110
Pioneer DV-400V-K DVD Player <--$68
I've been looking into a Region-Free DVD player (this can be easily made into one with updated firmware) for awhile and as an added bonus this has USB input, and can play many different media formats from the USB or almost any burnt disc. Not as good as an Oppo but its a cheap multi format DVD/media player which is what I was gonna use a PMP for...

I'm too god damn complicated...
Fireonice
Well the zune for many reasons. One, it has by far the best interface. The touch pad is just amazing when it comes to searching for music. The sound quality is good. And the player itself is very good looking. It may not have all these little options that your looking into but for a mp3 player it blows anything iv used out of the water. And now with the recent hack you can use any program to upload music to it.

Dont get me wrong cowon makes great products i just think going with a zune is a safe bet as the company that backs it refuses to see it fail.
LivingGhost
Get a D2. That's what I might do.

It has the almost the same hardware as the i7, but a much nicer screen and an SD expansion. There's a 16gig one out now (on Jetmall).
silverman
I have Sansa e280. It's not bad, quality is Ok. Besides, SD card for increasing memory and good price for it . rolleyes.gif
pkilway
I've had my e270 for over a year and haven't had any problems with it. And like silverman said, as you collect more music you can add an microSD card to increase the amount of music you can carry with you. All on sale at Newegg.com, just get yourself a pair of nice earbuds, as the ones that came with my e270 were lacking.
