I am in the middle of sleeving my PSU and all of a sudden I ran across something I have never done before. How does one take the inline SATA power plugs off the cable? I took it apart and it seems as though there are 2 pins per wire that actually puncture the wire. I understand how the end SATA plugs work but this inline thing has be somewhat baffled. I have seen the normal terminals that cut into the wire to splice into it, but these with the wires is a bit strange. How do I remove them?

I have also goggled "How to's" but no one talks about the inline SATA plugs.

I'd just push the wires out, sleeve, then push the wires back in...

worst case scenario: wires don't stay in when re-inserted
solution: reattach the SATA plug 10mm further up or down the cable on fresh wire, and heatshrink the old "cut" cable

absolute worse case scenario: wire snaps when pulling out
solution: inline solder joint and solution 1

I'm confident that carefully pulling the wires out and reinserting them would work fine though.

Thanks for the replay Nrg, have you tried this before?

no, I've cut open a molded rubber SATA plug with a scalpel knife, sleeved, then *superglued* the rubber back together with all the wires put back in place laugh.gif

some of those snap-on SATA plugs come with PSUs so you can add more connectors when required... I think my NeoPower, or Hiper Type-R, came with them... so you don't need special tools to put them on...

Sweet then, thanks for the info.
