I here my Antec 500 Moaning with the Quad Core and ATI 1950xt both OC and Folding. I used the Extreme PSU Calculator and it says I need 750 watts. I think that may be a little overkill for one video card, but I want some extra power just in case I go crossfire, and the cables to do it with. I think 750 watt should be enough even for two 2900xts. I was looking at this one, any suggestions, comments?

I have it and it's aw3some. smile.gif There are cables for EVERYTHING which some people may not like but i've got enough room to tuck the unused ones out of the way.

I've got dual 8800GTS cards in SLI mode and a dual core AMD64 X2 6000+.

However, i don't overclock...

I ran my system through the calculator and it came out to be ~490w, give or take a bit depending on how accurate you want to be.

The PC POWER & COOLING SILENCER 750 QUAD CF EDITION is on sale at Newegg as we speak. Think it's got free shipping with it as well. No brainer there.

Why don't you use the Galaxy 1000W and swap the Neopower 500W in the E6850 rig? That's how I'd do it smile.gif

I got it in black just today so that I have the option of voltmodded 8800GTS SLI biggrin.gif

I could do that but I decided that the 500 watt probably would not be enough for the E6850 and 2900xt and water cooling also. Besides that I am thinking about getting a 2900 pro, flash it to xt, get a X-38 board, borrow the quad processor when needed or buy another and put it under water, and run cross fire for the next forum wars.

Ohh, I thought you were gonna run the E6850 with your X1950XT, and run 2900XT CrossFire with the Quad smile.gif

I am running the quad and 1950xt right now as my main rig, finally. The E6850 and 2900 are running Linux and folding for now. There is no folding gpu client for the 2900xt, and no Linux gpu client for the 1950xt. I have Linux on every rig but my main rig has XP Pro.

Did you select single processor? Quad core is still a single proc and uses significantly less watts then 4 seperate physical cpus.

My system - everything overclocked significantly and with crossfire x1900XTX's - comes out to 518 watts at 100% load.

I have the 610W version of that power supply!

So far I really like it.

My only complaint is that the Sleeving they put on doesnt run to the ends of the Molex & Sata connectors. So the cableing between the connectors is bare.

I managed to hid it in my case so its not an issue, but tis still abit of a pain.

I sure did, it says a little less than 500 watt now.

I figured something was up - I know 2900's are beasts but it didnt sound right using that much more power then dual oc'd x1900xtx's.

Even still, as PSU's get older their wattage effectively decreases since the caps do lose performance with age. Even though my PSU is still within spec for my system I have went from .02v 12v rail variation under load to .05 after adding a second card sad.gif Still well within tolerance, but I will definetly get a more modern one when I do the big jump to a new gen cpu/mobo/ram - I'm horribly cpu limited laugh.gif
