ok, My PSU died just a few minutes ago, went to boot up my rig to do some regular stuff, well after about 2 minutes all controls lock up on me, ok weird. So I shut it down to reboot..... no go. Hit button several times and still nothing. So I go below my desk to see if any cables pulled out, all tight. Really weird. Well while I'm doing this I hear a wierd high pitched noise coming from my computer. Ok now really really weird. I decide to take out my PSU, plug it in seperate from the computer, and sure enough, its coming from the PSU only. So I take it apart, what do I find? bulging caps and glue everywhere. I mean it is everywhere. So my PSU has bit the dust, need a reccomondation of a new one.

MSI Neo-4
AMD 3500+
NVIDIA 7600GT
80 Gig SATA WD
1MB Corsair XMS
Soundblaster Audigy
DVD-ROM
just need something stable, nothing fancy, and I'm on a really tight budget.

A 300W or 400W from FSP should be fine and it'll cost less than $50 shipped.

Check out the recommended PSU list
here.

Nice to see you around Sovek.
I'd recommend this
Fortron 400w. for about $45 with shipping. I've used a couple of these on some old low power P4 Northwoods without a hitch.
There's also a
350 watt for $35 with shipping, but I think thats a little border line.
Both PSUs are rated on there maximum output as well, not there sustained.

Both antec PSUs Ive had didnt even last me that long. My modular smartpower (almost 2 years old) makes a high pitch noise but works, not that Id use it though. The other truepower just flat out died.
Antec was using some crappy capacitors for a while so its likely you got a bad one.
