I've got a whole bunch of this stuff, but have no idea how to power it up. What kind of adapter-magiggy do I need?

hmm - if you're talking about EL wire you'll need an inverter. but i don't think that's what you're talking about. perhaps a picture of what it is?

is it something like this?

i have a feeling the most you could do with that is 12v on the positive end and a gnd on the other...i'm not sure what voltage drop is across each led, but i believe it does depend on how it's wired. i do have a feeling it is running in series though.

the only thing like that [or at least like the picture i put up] i have used recently plugs up to an AC power outlet. i don't think it has an inverter/transformer. it may though.
