bosco
ROFL you are not kidding laugh.gif
road-runner
Whats even sadder is I have two more rigs the same way mounted on a board, I could not afford cases. sad.gif
ccokeman

yes we all know that you have a ton on benches as part of your folding farm.
oh yea, one entry per person.
and make comments, we want to know why you need the case beg!!!!!!
they are simple rules.
Thanks.
injijagwalaafq
i'll just play for fun.

These are my server and the pentium d folding rig. Both are equally trashed. So either one will work as an 'entry.' I can also put up that mess I call the closet folding farm.
kingdingeling
So, this is my little *cough* beauty.... *coughcough*

Now what this is, believe it or not, this is my server, therefore storage rig. So what happens with this is that it gets booted every weekend, I backup the important files from my parents/brother/sistsers and sometimes myself (I should do that more often really!), which usually takes a couple of hours by itself. This is a rig I got from a friend, but I had no case here at home, but also no funds to get one, or I was too lazy. So I got an old champagne carton (I kid you not!) and cut a couple of holes into it to form a case. The motherboard fit perfectly, as it was mini-ATX, and I ever had enough space for a PSU, CD drive (if I need one, I take it from my main rig), and one or two harddrives. My parents thought I had officially gone mad, but then when I got them their data back after my sister broke out harddrive (decides she needs to stick a magnet to the PC case dry.gif what a retard!), things turned around a bit smile.gif

So here are the amazing specs:
Some I-have-no-clue-how-old mobo, a Gigabyte of some sort
a VIA Cyrix III 600MHz socket370 processor @ whatever it boots at
2x128MB SD-RAM
Either some integreated graphics chip, or a Matrox PCI card
a T-Online USB to LAN Adapter
1x 200GB Seagate
LC-Power 300W PSU (noname)
hardnrg
normally i'd say people who have boxes of champagne laying around the house shouldn't win prizes lol...

but man, that cardboard box case is ace! biggrin.gif
kingdingeling
lol Steve, that was after christmas and new years, where I had a couple of mates over and we had a good drink with my and their parents wink.gif

btw, nice edit roadrunner, but I do prefer the other case and the story you posted tongue.gif

Well I posted it on the board alone but they said it had to be case so I changed it to the sony and when you came up with a cardboard case I ran out to the street and got the box I had just thrown out for the garbage man for a case. tongue.gif
kingdingeling
well that IS a case, a weird one, but it's still a dang case tongue.gif
Andrewr05
Unless I'm blind I don't see the rules to this contest... ??

I would assume its like the other contest where you post your computer case?
BTSchnarfy
It was posted in the 'OCC News & Announcements" section. Here's the link to it.

Ohh come on, that IS a case....

I'll get a new entry in here these days, I just gotta find that case again!
coolcat97
Maybe this is cheating... but... this is my hell case:

This case sucked so i shot and burned it, then put in a Pentium MMX 200 MHz
And my basket case:
coolcat97
And my $10 fish tank case:

Sula

This is my worst case because it is my only case. Isn't best in the world case. Is without side screens because one of them was damaged when uppgrading my comp about 2 years ago. Metal it was made of was just awful and case didn't want to close. It wasn't big loss because temperatures were high in this case becasue for a lack of ventilation (definately not a overclocker case) so i didn't even want to repair this screen.
For now this case works , but it will have to be changed when i will buy new "insides" in a few weeks/months - it will not survive new heavier stuff especially PSU ,and besides temperature in it because absolutely lack of ventilation will stop my oc for sure. I will never make a cheap deal on a case again foldon.gif
robAP
this is my worst case. its not previously on fire or made of cardboard, but it is really the worse case for a home server. i'm piecing together the parts to make the server and really need a good breathing spacious case badly to fit the bill, and honestly that Apollo case would be fabulous for this project. it holds all the drives im gonna need to serve video, music, pictures, printing, and ill be heavily into image storage in the comming months.

I think on the merit of this case i should win this contest, after all, it is...an emachines case!! the worst you can possibly have in your house. its got a mini everything and not even an ATX psu will fit...(and yes the HD you see there is the "bigfoot" 5gig drive...still works perfectly too.....perfect! someone told me an emachines case makes a great BBQ grill if you lay it on its side.

so...for your consideration, the obligatory pic:

I need the case becaues I've never won a contest in my life and if i dont ill feel like a complete reject from society.

Just kidding, but i've really never won a contest.
Yunnie

Yunnie wants to built a new compy and needs motivation to do it... and that case would be great biggrin.gif

if I dont win.... I'll just stay lazy >_>; -shrugs-
coolcat97
O.... i forgot that rule... .... but i'll keep the hell case, it is a real case...i destroyed it for fun. now i pay the price because i have a 3 GHz P4 and no place to put it...but the hell case ohmy.gif
coolcat97
And the fact that i have boards all over the floor... in bins... lol
suchuwato
It's ugly as hell, noisy, badly made, only works upside down (?) the side panel won't close, hot inside, cuts your hands, standoffs are not in the right place (!)... yeah, I could go on all day.

(I know we're not counting these... tongue.gif)
The invisible case...

Very strange, I wonder why that is?

The drives won't sit in it right the correct way up, and you can't attach them, so it has to be on it's side or upside down tongue.gif
Andrewr05

Despite this things size it is actually quite cramped, no place to properly route wires, crappy fan clips, only accepts 80MM fans, horrible psu mount location, and the paint scratches very easy...

And one of the worst things about this case:
"The front door assembly"
The door itself is made of cheap plastic and the front panel lock is completely 100% USELESS!!!!
Seriously, if I ever wanted any optical drives or front panel devices and I had access to a full tower Chenming/Thermaltake/Chieftec etc... then I would be in heaven.

It takes 2 hands and the brain power of a 5 year old to open the front panel, since it uses a completely toolless design it takes approximately 8 seconds to remove the front panel, and take a drive out AND another thing the power switch isn't even behind the door either, which makes me wonder what exactly the point of the lock is whatsoever?
The engineer(s) who thought this design up was clearly smoking some wacky drugs when he thought of this design....

I plan on building a new PC (which isn't saying much because just about anything is new compared to my current setup) within a year, with a new case it would motivate me to start buying new parts as the money became available...
Klavious

About 7 months ago my PSU died so I replaced it with one from my old Sony computer. Well, it ended up not being able to fit inside - so in the end, I had to lay the case on it's side and ...well, you get the idea.

Oh, forgot to mention that it's fairly noisy for a PSU.
Raven65
Keep em coming I'm beginning to enjoy reading the stories!
HuDDy25k
Here is my Crapard bell I media 4505 a fine computer in its time i think. When moving house 2 years ago the nice removal man (my dad) droped it from the back of the Lorrie oh the shock the horror!!! When i found out this had happened i looked at the damage to my dream machine front pannel clips broken off and then the pain my new msi cd rw drive smashed to bits and front broken off the other. It still worked to about 11 month ago when the psu went bang so as you can well see i need a new case to get this fine bit of historic computing machine up and working again to its may day glory

I was thinking about doing some modding to this case a double glazed window from my mates window company for the side and a nice paint job using hameright paint black and a brush so ya can see the nice working of detail to my case

Hello
I just found this place and thought I might show you my case after it a while ago fell down a stair. The one to the left is my friends case and the one to the right is mine. It has a pentium III and actually works somewhat. Not new but I think that this one could stand quite well here since most of your pics are not pics of cases and other have cheated so... I want a new computer but the old man said it would be too expensive and troublesome angry.gif I will try anyway too get some parts here and some there so i hope...

Now, I just mean that everybody could burn and shoot their cases, and a cardboard "case" isn't really a case, I mean, I could also pick out my parts and put them on a cardboard. Please, I just wrote that, I didn't mean to upset anyone. I'm sorry for that sentence, it was really unnecessary.

Hey man, I don't expect to win. The truth is that most of us have a nice computer or a few. How ever, this is for the worst case. Mine just happens to be the one that I shot and burned. I have a nice machine for my main rig. I have cases with out a single scratch on them. I have shown my worst.
coolcat97
I don't think anyone crapped up their case for this contest. You are right, anybody can smear on some mud and bang it with a hammer. The question is: Did they do it for the contest? My case was shot in late 2006 (i think) so i wouldnt consider it to be cheating. But the guy who got his messed up in a moving accident, we know didn't cheat. Also the only rule is that you have to be a member. I think we just need to be honest and have fun. It is clear that my case was no accident laugh.gif
HuDDy25k
God ppl its a bit of fun to see wot us slobs have laying around in there house take a chill pill. I have sins kicked my case am i now a cheat ?
Joco
I knew this ould happen. Ok I am really sorry, i just happen to write that in the speed. I didn't mean anything serious.

Here is one of my ugliest computer that I have. I made this myself because I can't afford to go buy a case. So here is Ugly.Click to view attachment

You gotta love the fact it has build in speakers and that it has taken some abuse biggrin.gif

Looking at this case speaks for itself why I need a new case.
slugbug
This case was my first attempt at modding. I drilled holes in the top panel in an attempt to get some of the heat out of the case. It's a horribly designed case with worse ventilation. I have an old QDI motherboard in it with a slot one P3-450 and 256mb of PC133 ram.

bosco
Just an update guys NZXT is also going to throw in a 1000 Watt PSU.

So first place is going to get the Case and the 550 PSU and 2nd place is going to get the 1000 watt psu.

Good luck guys. smile.gif
