Due to Jet-Lag, I woke up early today. Turn on the music, and whilst turning around I see the Asus box on the table and thought "yea, lets get that DVD burner in there!"

So off it went and I opened the case and there's wires everywhere (last time I changed the PSU I couldn't be bothered to wire it properly tongue.gif), so the logical consequence is to reroute them.
Here some before and after pics:
Before:

After:

The mess behind the motherboard tray, that hopefully noone sees:

More pics to come, I gotta go do some stuff for my parents dry.gif

tuck those molex connectors inside the 3.5" bays if you can.

withstupid.gif and especially your optical bay! I have the same Chemning variant, do you have the other drive bay? I recommend moving it to the bottom so it won't run into your graphics and it'll look a bit neater/balanced

Here's a shot of mine for Idears, notice my very neat Drive bay tongue.gif

@ Unforgivin, What kind of wire management is this?

Side panel Fan.

I'm too busy to extend it/route it. I have the parts to make a removable 1/4" on the side so that if I remove the side panel, the power connector is separated. I just never got around to it.
Silverfox
ahh the droopy side-panel fan wire biggrin.gif

makes me glad that I have no clear side-panel

withstupid.gif Me to although I have some cases with the clear side panel they do not have the fan
Silverfox
yeah, i have operated on a few and run a nice extra-long wire by the handle and around the rim of the window so you cannot see it. not always an option though to be fair.

@ silverfox/unforgivin, do you guys meen those that I put on the 3.5" cages? Those are for the fan controller I have in there, and they're out on there because that is the easiest place to have connectors for the 2 side panel fans. So if I take off the side panel, the connectors are right there and not hidden somewhere deep in that cage.

@ unforgivin, no, I don't have that last 3.5" bay thing, where can I get it?!

here some more pics, this is the mess above the PSU (dang this BeQuiet has a ton of wires!):

3 different types of SATA cables, one from my old EVGA board, the second from my SLI-DR Expert and the one at the bottom from the Gigabyte board now, so I know what connects where laugh.gif

more to come wink.gif

I meant the CD/Optical drive bay, route all your cables into there first, then to your components. That's why I had that pic from earlier. That way no one will see it

Hmmm, I dunno sad.gif

I just redid my cabling yesterday so i guess i will post a couple of pics.

From the back after: (i don't think any of the cables went down the back before lol)

Ok here is my system BEFORE I even attempted proper wire management. For reference, that IDE Hard Disk is now SATA so it is even more tidy in this tiny case!

kingdingeling
yea, but you have to see silverfox, that case seems bigger/is bigger than my Chieftec. At least its more spaced out, so not as crammed.

Ah this is where you are mislead. It is a PC60! To my recollection, it is actually smaller than the Chieftec (assuming it is indeed, the same one jammin has).

It may seem bigger, but it is merely down to how the case itself deals with the internal wiring (Lian Li are quite intelligent) and the fact that all my wires are modular or hidden away. I ought to get another picture with the SATA drive in there.
Comp Dude2
lol, mine is modular as well and your before pic looks better than my after sad.gif

that is because of the case wiring i think. that, and you have front-mounted ports, which I chose not to have, as I have cables running behind my desk for me to use if I need USB etc.
Son of Odin
I would never buy a power supply that isn't modular again. My Ultra has nice flexforce modular wires, that hiper looks nice though.
kingdingeling

the cause of all this changing in wires, the new DVD burner wub.gif The top one is the new Asus, the botton my good ole' BenQ
jammin
Think I'm going to give my wire management another go as well.

I'll post some before and after pics when I'm done.
No Modular goodness here, so it should be interesting to see if I can get it anywhere near clean and tidy looking.
jammin
OK
There isn't actually a huge difference between the before and after pics laugh.gif
At least it doesn't look like there is.

Here is what it looked like before I started

Along with how the cables were arranged behind the motherboard tray

The main mess was up in the top section. A lot of cables tucked into the 5.25" drive bays

After removing everything but the power supply, we can see how many power cables I have to deal with

I separated the cables I wouldn't need and tucked them behind the motherboard tray.

Then went crazy with the masking tape

It's a good thing that's going to be hidden behind a side panel

After completion it doesn't really look a whole lot cleaner.

The jumble of cables that was taking up space in the 5.25" bays has moved behind the motherboard tray.
The SATA power cable for the lower hard drive has been routed behind the mother board itself for a short run.
The wires in the upper half can still be tidied up a bit, need to break out the zip ties for that I think.

The SATA data cables are a problem, mainly because of where the headers are on the board. Don't know how I'd make those any better.

Temperatures do seem to be down a bit, as I gave the case a good dusting in the process smile.gif

(and yes, I did remember to plug the 4 pin power cable back in after taking this photo)

You almost forgot it before you started the computer didn't you tongue.gif

Looks good thumbs-up.gif
kingdingeling
Chieftec power man! That did make a difference though, it does look neater now.

I took some more shots of my rig today, just showing off the fans I guess wink.gif Here we have my CPU fan on the SI-120 (Thermaltake Smartfan) and my 120 Blue LED (I hate LEDs) at the back (Aerocool Turbine)

going with the 120mm's, I have a Sharkoon at the top in my modded blowhole, quiet and pushes an adequate amount of air

then we got my 92mm's in the side panel, some nice quiet Papst's

Next come the front 80mm's, some NoiseBlocker Ultra Quiet fans, they are the real beauty of my rig laugh.gif

Nearly.
I always do a quick check of all connections after re-building and caught it in that.

I'm going to have a go at neatening up the wires in the top half tomorrow.
I could lose one of the IDE cables but I don't really want to put my DVD-RW drive and third HDD on the same cable.
(Although the HDD is basically just for files, music etc. so it probably wouldn't hurt too much)

Who needs wire management?

Real men just buy bigger fans!!

I see a bit of your point Andrew, as I don't have a clear side panel (never would get one, just sucks). But still, airflow is king, and this rig is supposed to be wisper quiet but still have all the power I can get from it (i.e. have good OCing capabilities).
