I had a question kind of on the same path. On newegg they have those OEM system builder Vista's. If you get the Home Premium version that they say is 32bit is there still a way to install the 64bit version?

Each CD key is tied to specific versions of Vista. I'm not particularly sure if they differentiate between 32-bit and 64-bit. Of course, you could always give it a try. If it doesn't work, you just change the selection to 32-bit.

there is a phone number inside the OEM Vista case that you can call Microsoft and pay shipping for the 64 version. from what i read you give them your cd-key and then they will ship you the 64 bitwith a diff key, and then somehow your original 32bit key wont work....?

i dont see any number. all i got was 2 Cd's from HP, a invoice, and a piece of paper telling me how to upgrade lol.

i called microsoft, and they verified that a 32bit key WILL work on a 64bit OS aslong as its the same version ie homepreimum key can only work on a homepremium key.
