A new and very promising looking computer case has recently been launched in England. Here's a link to the site:

undefined The most detailed info and illustration is in the site's download.

The only review to date is brief and appears in the context of an article on building a quiet sound editing PC in the Feb. issue of Sound on Sound:

article

The case features 10mm dampening foam and various foam shrouds, baffles and mufflers. The 3 120mm case fans are located inside the case and air is ducted toward them from 1 filered intake vent. The CPU is cooled by a Thermalright XP-120 w/ a bracket for either a 120 or 140mm quiet fan with a shroud attached that exhausts directly out of the back of the case.

Looks like a great sound studio or possibly HTPC case, but it can't handle too much heat from graphics cards in it's present iteration. The company is at work setting up distribution in the U. S.

I'd love to know what your impressions are. I think the idea of moving fans away from the surface of the case may be a promising one.

Hi,

Thanks for the write up.

I'm Peter BTW - I designed the PaQ Case.

In case you are wondering - Yes - it will be available in the US, but I don't know how soon. There is a lot of work to do to set that up; and demand currently outstrips production here in the UK alone.

Putting fans right inside, and making sure there is lots of acoustic material between them and you is certainly one of the things that makes this work. The overall construction - a composite alumimium sandwich with an inner layer of acoustic foam is certainly important, and we are using a high density foam that works at low frequency as well. It depends how you decide to measure it - but 1/2" is probably a better indication than 10mm.

I have never really associated overclocking with low noise - but that's bef=ginning to look like a possibility now. Ideally, for that, you'd want a slightly larger case that teh PaQ 4U-550. That's just our first model - it can be used either as a raxkmount or as a Midi Tower, and we plan others - it just all takes time.
