I just bought a new HD and I'm looking at cleaning up my cables to make it fit better. I'm planning on sleeving my IDE cables to make them more manageable and not so airflow restrictive. I read the guide here on OCC and I'm wondering, which brand of sleeving would you guys recommend? I can't seem to find anything useful on Newegg, seaching for "sleeve" results in about 300 case fans, dry.gif not terribly helpful. All of my google searches have come up with dozens of high volume industrial manufacturers. Also not terribly helpful. Any advice and/or links would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Just buy some round IDE cables, you can find them everyone online, and theyre not expensive

Vantec do sleeving kits which comes with the mesh sleeving, zip-ties, heatshrink, all in a number of different sizes

good modding stores sell the sleeving and heatshrink separately in a number of colours, and/or they provide their own sleeving bundles...

there is a pretty extensive list of stores in the link in my sig... you should be able to find a decent modding store there smile.gif

@hardnrg - Thanks, I'll look those up.

@Holodream - I already have the cables and the zipties, and I'm looking to spend as little as possible on these things, I appreciate the suggestion though.

I have to agree with holo on this one. Unless you're buying your sleeving by the foot, it's probably going to be cheaper (and much easier) to buy already round cables. My Vantec sleeve set was $10. You could get 3 or 4 rounded IDE cables for that. Anyways, maybe you've got a way to get sleeve on the cheap, but I think in almost all cases, it's cheaper to just buy the cables.

As I said, I have used two different Vantec kits and they were very good quality, except for the heat-shrink, which didn't shrink enough to really hold the ends. I ended up using some black 3:1 that I had around instead.

this is true.. the heatshrink sucks... the atx mobo connector heatshrink is a joke especially
