That's pretty cool, but honestly, who would sit there and crank to charge something...I bet it takes forever to charge anything.

Although you COULD fully charge something with it, Im pretty sure its more of an emergency device...
Crank it about 50 times and get possibly a minute's worth of use on a cellphone?

Plus there is the geek factor of it... thumbs-up.gif

It only takes about 15-20 minutes to fully charge a cell phone... so looking at the vid, he was cranking at about 3 times a second, so do the math, would mean 2700 rotations

not bad at all, I might keep something like this handy as an emergency device or something once Earth gets taken over by Aliens

Hmm, i dunno if you would charge the thing too quickly and screw the battery but i suppose you could add a bigger driver gear and a smaller driven gear so less turns would be needed for a charge, and i don't think it would put too much strain on your poor hand lol.

Ah well then it is condemned to the pile of cool but useless/impractical things.

Reminds me of the $100 laptop, it has a hand crank.
