True, I'm building up to my entry... laugh.gif

Any tips on increasing stability then anyone? rolleyes.gif

More voltage? laugh.gif What are your load temps?

Hmm... 61*c when running orthos - a bit lower for superpi - I thought that they looked a bit slow... I'm not too sure what's going on huh.gif
kingdingeling
What are your timings at for the RAM?
firky
My case is here smile.gif

My torture rack will be here Friday, I have no MB though. I am thinking about ordering one while I am waiting on my RMA from Gigabyte...
firky
i get payed on thursday my mobo should come firday/monday ..... that just leaves the rest of my pc lol and all the water cooling parts!!! *sigh* where does all my money go!
road-runner
Got another P35 DS4 on the way, no telling how long Gigabyte will have my other board and with my torture rack being here Friday I need something to torture on it...
kingdingeling
Good stuff road! I hope my Blood Iron gets here before the weekend, so that I can torture this G0 combined with my A-Data memory tongue.gif Lol, I'd be OCing on two rigs simultaneously then laugh.gif

Yea I want to see how well the DFI does with the quad, there are mixed reports on it...
kingdingeling
I know, I was a little hesitant about buying it as well, but then I saw the price (20 Euros cheaper than the DS4). Ok, not a big difference, I agree, but you get a DFI. It's basically the Lanparty P35 T2R with less features, but a very similar BIOS and overclocking potential. I'll see how it does, otherwise I might have to seek an alternative smile.gif
kingdingeling
It's here biggrin.gif Q6600 SLACR, nicely packaged OEM in an .... AMD PACKAGE?!?! blink.gif

AMD's packaging is much better smile.gif
kingdingeling
yea, it's one of those little plastic things you get when you buy a retail A64. I thought it was weird though, but funny nontheless laugh.gif
road-runner
Well my DS4 got here yesterday and my Torture Rack just got here.
kingdingeling
haha, I love how the dog is so interested in that torture rack laugh.gif Maybe he wants to OC some rigs as well? tongue.gif

Btw, posting from my Quad smile.gif The P35 T2RL Blood Iron got here today, I'm extremely happy up to now smile.gif Didn't even have to reformat! It just went right over biggrin.gif

Good... Now lets see what it can do? What VID is your chip?
kingdingeling
*checks VID* 1.275, is that good? I have no clue unsure.gif

That should be good, my first quad is 1.3250, and this last one I got that I ran OCCT at 3.9Ghz is 1.2375 which means it takes a lot less volts to OC farther...
kingdingeling
I'd love some 3.9GHz OCCT action laugh.gif I'll see what it can do in a minute, then I'll leave it at a preliminary OC for the night (folding of course!), and tomorrow I'll look for the highest pwnage biggrin.gif

firky
tick tock! lol king must love that 2.4ghz tongue.gif
road-runner
Working on mine. I hope to get it going later. Not sure if I am going to pull the quad out of the other rig yet or not. I may just get it going with the E6850 for now.
firky
lol some one is goin to say your not ment to put your mobo on the anti static bag!

Btw how do you find that Laing DDC?

It came in this kit from Petras.

Edit: Its sitting on the foam, the foam is sitting on the bag...

Had it like this for a while but thought i might as well getting it recorded officially.

(Will be back with more screeny's once i plug in my cpu fan as it is currently fanless lol)
kingdingeling
Comp Dude, you're in wink.gif

@ firky, I've been busy the whole day, so I didn't really get much OCing done, but it's been folding at 3.2 for the day wink.gif
road-runner
Went ahead and pulled the quad and 2900xt out of my other rig and put in the E6850 and a cheap video card for Folding. Trying to get a stable OC established on the Utra 120 Extreme then I am going to water cool the quad and 2900...
kingdingeling
Looks like the Quad will have to do it's work at 3.2 for now, I simply don't have time to OC right now sad.gif School is killing me!
Comp Dude2
darn, i have the slowest E4300 lol.

p.s., i am using vista (cos someone else got a big sign beside their name)
kingdingeling
Alrighty, will add that smile.gif
road-runner
Wont be to much longer...

Looks like 3924 is about all I can get out of it for a 24/7 speed at regular room temp of 74-75f. I tried 3950 and up to 4Ghz but it fails as it is getting to warm with more volts. At 3924 I have to set the vcore to 1.525 in the bios. It drops to 1.472 idle, and when OCCT kicks in it drops to 1.456v. I am hitting 59-61c load with water cooling the 2900xt and the quad. I need to get those quad nozzles for the Fuzion I guess. It may do a little better after the arctic silver settles also. I am just really wonder if that extra 324mz is worth running the cpu at 1.525 setting, at 3600Mhz it only requires 1.3875v vcore setting in the bios.

hardnrg
hmm, maybe you need separate rads?

Maybe, everytime my temp would climb to about 63c OCCT would fail no mater what the voltage was. I went up to 1.55 in the bios trying to get 4Ghz stable, it would fail at 23m in the test every time. I did not think to check the memory with memtest. I am running on one stick I borrowed from the rig the quad came out of, my Crucial 8500 RMA will be here tomorrow. I am wondering if lapping and those nozzles will get it down enough? I have not messed with anymore tonight. I have been working on it all day and I am tired, so its Folding at 3925Mhz/58c-60c.
kingdingeling
is 63°C maybe what the thermal throttling in the BIOS is set to? smile.gif

Certainly nothing to be sneezed at... you've got a nice track record with your Core2s now smile.gif

Did you ever try the new or old C2Q on the MCR320 by itself?

withstupid.gif I was wondering about that too. Maybe pop in an old PCI video card to see how far those CPUs can go.

Maybe in EasyTune? I used the new EasyTune 5 Pro version, and it gave the option for thermal throttling.

It rebooted in the middle of the night at 29% Folding. I had the random reboot problem with my DS3R and the newest bios fixed that. I guess I will update the bios in a little while. As far as trying it with just the cpu only I haven't yet. I was thinking about the upcoming forum wars so I figured I need every little bit I could get, so I cooled the video card also. I am glad I skipped the northbridge.
kingdingeling
3.6 and climbing smile.gif

[Edit] laugh.gif

Gigabytes new bios fixes the vdroop on the E6850 where it reads what you set it to with cpuz in the bios, it also helped the quad core and the stability. 4Ghz with 1.575 setting bios, droop to 1.536 idle, and 1.520 load. They put an option in the bios to enable load line or (vcore). The rig did not reboot at 63c like it did before. I saw 65c as the highest and seemed to average 56c-58c, plus the arctic silver has probably settles some... biggrin.gif

LOL well its folding at 4Ghz, we will see what happens....
kingdingeling
It just crashed running prime95 at 3.6GHz 1.47 Vcore in the BIOS. I guess the Gigabyte DS4 I had before kinna corrupted my views on Vdroop, as my CPU would drop from 1.4 to 1.36 at worst. On this DFI, it's crazy! Like right now, I have the BIOS to like 1.50 or something, and CPU-Z tells me 1.424, same as the DFI Smart Guardian (1.42 there). what the heck?!?!

The quads require a good MB. and I think a 8 pin cpu plug helps also. From what I have read vdroop is bad on all the cheaper 4 pin plug boards. You might try the newest bios also, it help on my DS3R and DS4.

Edit: Folding 3915Mhz 58c-61c
kingdingeling
Will flash the BIOS in a minute, I hope that helps sad.gif

[Edit] just flashed, but I'm going to bed! More OCing to come tomorrow, I hope this clears some issues!

Been Folding with windows SMP @ 3950/1.55vcore since around 1pm, no problems so far...
road-runner
This chip is amazing, I put my Crucial Ballistics 8500 RMA in yesterday evening and did not have any time to really mess with it. I found out for one thing I was giving my cpu excess volts. I am at 1.525 setting in the bios and slowly moving up my OC. I am at 3960 right now...
kingdingeling
Dang it road laugh.gif Me wants tongue.gif
