Do you know what guys. I'm amazed that hardly anybody has gone for the 24hr Prime catagory.

It's remained the same for months and months. Come on, are you all frightened of really pushing your rigs ? smack.gif

Or is it because it's too much hard work ? biggrin.gif

To much work and takes to long, ties up the machine doing nothing for 24 hours... smile.gif

I try, really I do! I start it right when I go to bed, and 17 hours later I get home from work it still going... but I want to game! One of these days I'll get it, dont worry.

If your machine can't game and run Prime/Orthos blend at the same time, then there's something wrong and it's not stable anyway.

Stop making excuses and get with it peeps biggrin.gif

Got to get my water cooling on the i7, maybe I can get a 24 hr run in afterwords...

Anyone got the issue in vista where it crashes at loop 11 doing the 32m test???

You said "The" issue. As far as i'm aware there is no particular issue with the 32m test and Vista (apart from being slower than XP).

You probably need to tweak your clock a bit more.
T_J_Collier
ok thanks i try and push it higher
ebarone
Yes!! I finally figured that out yesterday, I thought it was a 64 bit incompatibility but it turns out Vista itself is incompatible with SuperPi. It has to do with the audio service in Vista, but there is a workaround: HyperPi! Its a front-end for SuperPi, much like Orthos is a front-end for Prime95. Its great because not only will it solve the Vista incompatibility, but it also easily allows multiple instances of SuperPi to run on the different cores of your machine. You can even set the process affinity (I always set to Realtime).

Before, I couldnt run 32M of SuperPi. I can now with HyperPi, screenshots will be up when I go home from work. Good luck!

Edit: Links to HyperPi may be useful in the opening post of this thread or in a benchmark software sticky or something, incase other Vista users are having the same problems. I only stumbled by the solution by accident, I would still be under the impression my OC was unstable if I hadnt.
T_J_Collier
Tried HyperPI however it crashed the my computer twice blink.gif

Not good

I'll try and disable the audio manually and see if super pi works
ebarone
Make sure to use one thread at first, and if thats crashing the comp, I would say your OC is unstable sad.gif

Hi roadrunner! Bye roadrunner! laugh.gif

We really need a wprime section for this thread, wprime is fun.

Here's a wprime just for the hell of it.

I've always disabled audio in the bios before starting any benching run. That would certainly be the reason i have never had the problem.

If you are benching for HWbot, then HyperPi would'nt be allowed. So incase you get a really good run, it would be worthwhile just disabling audio and run the normal Pi.

Man, now I have to find the time to do that... And probably won't be able to do that on air....
l33t p1mp
Nope. That's why I love wprime, it separates the men from the boys. laugh.gif Jk. I might be better on wprime but you have the superpi skillz.
DLS2008
I can't break the 13 second wall on Super Pi 1M at 3.6 GHz... I got a benching account set up. Ended all the processes I could. Turned off most of the Vista features. Set resolution lower. Basically did everything I could to conserve CPU cycles, lol.

EDIT: I just noticed I have the fastest run on a CPU under 4.0 GHz. Also, another 2-ish hours for my 24 hrs Prime95 run... Then it's off to lowering the V-Core, although my Vdroop is outrageous (1.280 CPU-z; 1.3475 BIOS)!
l33t p1mp
Mine is worse. 1.5625 in bios, 1.492 in cpuz...

Yay I beat you at pi! biggrin.gif

Beat me at Super Pi 1M at 3600 MHz??? Let's see it... If you mean you're 4000 MHz, run, I don't care because I haven't had time to up my speed any higher and probably can't reach that on water...

What is HWbot, and why not? Hyperpi is just a gui, the actual pi calculation is still done by superpi behind it.

HWbot is here. It's the place where, if you want to bench in a big way, you post your benching scores for world rankings.

As for "why", it's the rules, and as we know, rules for benching are strict and well defined. No where more so than HWbot.
DLS2008
Well, stupid me closed Prime95 instead of stopping the test, lol... So here's my results files, I don't know if they'll suffice or not.

Damn sorry about that, so use to posting here in the past. That was windows server so I am sure I can get lower with xp...
ebarone
Hey road-runner, do you normally have that Windows theme or do you do it for better clock speeds? I forget where, but I recently read that the old classic themes in XP are actually pasted overtop of the default green and blue theme, so it may be helpful to re-enable the default theme, if thats why you have that theme. If you have it because you like it then just ignore me biggrin.gif
Kingfisher
He has aero theme off to help improve benchmarks most likely.

Exactly, you can turn off everything you can and it still cant compete with XP but we have to try to...
AJW256
Any Suicides yet RR? BTW, in the i7 part of my website u can click on the names to bring up the SS wink.gif
ebarone
Nono, what I mean is, when you are in XP, do you leave the default XP theme? The green and blue start bar and all that good junk? Because "turning it off" according to someone else (as in, I didnt check on this myself so dont put too much faith in what I say lol) isnt really turning anything off. The "off" look is actually just a theme drawn over the normal theme and the true off is the normal XP theme, so if you're trying to save clock cycles, try using the default windows theme. <shrug> give it a shot anyways, maybe whoever I read that from was full of it biggrin.gif
DLS2008
He's using Vista so it's a different story. Vista has an Aero feature built in that's supposed to make the windows all special and junk. Anyways, it's just another way for Microsoft to waste more CPU cycles. So in Vista, reverting to the classic Windows look actually saves cycles.

AJ, add a link to your database in your sig...
ebarone
My bad, I thought he said XP
kitfit1
If your using Vista guys, the way to do it is turn "Themes off". Then go to Control Panel/System/Advanced System Settings/Performance Settings, and tick "Adjust For Best Performance.

I cant get it to boot over 205 x 21 with HT on or off, of course I just started messing with it late last night and a little this morning. Where is this website?

I believe you are correct for XP though.

Also, here's some new scores: (Finally broke the 13 second barrier with a 3600 MHz Q9450 (Let's see it L33t...))
l33t p1mp
Nice. I heard P45 boards don't do good on spi though. Take that 13 seconds!

Go get wprime and then we'll talk about skills. biggrin.gif
AJW256
Updated to here. No idea why I didn't think of putting a link in my sig  I'll do it now.

Edit: If anyone here has good knowledge of PHP & MySQL please PM me.

Yea, yea, show me some 3600 MHz runs, not 4000 MHz. Whoop dee doo, you have water, I don't. You're going to win the highest speed challenge. Let's put up some wPrime 32M runs at 3600 MHz...
Kingfisher
Got a 24hr prime 95 for vista clock going for 20.5 hr with the hardware in my sig.
Temps are haunted with this modded Tuniq, both real temp and core temp report 56-58c but it is a cool 19c in my Apartment. blush.gif
If I just jinxed it then Kitfit I need some of your magic clock skills to help me reach 24 hours my friend. biggrin.gif

I know I can't pass you. I can't make 4 GHz on air. I'm happy enough beating you at the same clock.
SpeedEuphoria
Well just got this Q9650 today, put in some settings and booted right up. This thing clocks the same as my E8400 E0 at the same volts, just runs hotter.

I didnt tweak anything yet, this is the 1st thing I tried, lol.

1M Spi

32M Spi

I'm sure I can lower voltage or clock higher, this is the 1st test, passed with flying colors!!

Edit: Well it failed OCCT after 30min, so on to tweaking
Kingfisher
Managed to make it 24 hours. Seemed like an eternity. dry.gif

Yep, and I'll give that to you. Your 3.6 ghz scores beat mine, but when it comes to highest score possible with no rules I win. That's only because I have water though lol.

Edit: Remade this whole post.

Count this as my suicide screenie too, just to get me in the list biggrin.gif

Edit2: OMG I'm retarded, I put the all done box over the result for 1m hahahaha. Its 10.951s, I'll make a new screen when I'm home from work for proof biggrin.gif

Edit3: 1M screen update
