Do you know what guys. I'm amazed that hardly anybody has gone for the 24hr Prime catagory.
It's remained the same for months and months. Come on, are you all frightened of really pushing your rigs ?

Or is it because it's too much hard work ?

To much work and takes to long, ties up the machine doing nothing for 24 hours...

I try, really I do! I start it right when I go to bed, and 17 hours later I get home from work it still going... but I want to game! One of these days I'll get it, dont worry.

If your machine can't game and run Prime/Orthos blend at the same time, then there's something wrong and it's not stable anyway.
Stop making excuses and get with it peeps

You said "The" issue. As far as i'm aware there is no particular issue with the 32m test and Vista (apart from being slower than XP).
You probably need to tweak your clock a bit more.

Yes!! I finally figured that out yesterday, I thought it was a 64 bit incompatibility but it turns out Vista itself is incompatible with SuperPi. It has to do with the audio service in Vista, but there is a workaround:
HyperPi! Its a front-end for SuperPi, much like Orthos is a front-end for Prime95. Its great because not only will it solve the Vista incompatibility, but it also easily allows multiple instances of SuperPi to run on the different cores of your machine. You can even set the process affinity (I always set to Realtime).
Before, I couldnt run 32M of SuperPi. I can now with HyperPi, screenshots will be up when I go home from work. Good luck!
Edit: Links to HyperPi may be useful in the opening post of this thread or in a benchmark software sticky or something, incase other Vista users are having the same problems. I only stumbled by the solution by accident, I would still be under the impression my OC was unstable if I hadnt.

Not good
I'll try and disable the audio manually and see if super pi works

I've always disabled audio in the bios before starting any benching run. That would certainly be the reason i have never had the problem.
If you are benching for HWbot, then HyperPi would'nt be allowed. So incase you get a really good run, it would be worthwhile just disabling audio and run the normal Pi.

I can't break the 13 second wall on Super Pi 1M at 3.6 GHz... I got a benching account set up. Ended all the processes I could. Turned off most of the Vista features. Set resolution lower. Basically did everything I could to conserve CPU cycles, lol.
EDIT: I just noticed I have the fastest run on a CPU under 4.0 GHz. Also, another 2-ish hours for my 24 hrs Prime95 run... Then it's off to lowering the V-Core, although my Vdroop is outrageous (1.280 CPU-z; 1.3475 BIOS)!

What is HWbot, and why not? Hyperpi is just a gui, the actual pi calculation is still done by superpi behind it.

HWbot is
here. It's the place where, if you want to bench in a big way, you post your benching scores for world rankings.
As for "why", it's the rules, and as we know, rules for benching are strict and well defined. No where more so than HWbot.

Hey road-runner, do you normally have that Windows theme or do you do it for better clock speeds? I forget where, but I recently read that the old classic themes in XP are actually pasted overtop of the default green and blue theme, so it may be helpful to re-enable the default theme, if thats why you have that theme. If you have it because you like it then just ignore me

Nono, what I mean is, when you are in XP, do you leave the default XP theme? The green and blue start bar and all that good junk? Because "turning it off" according to someone else (as in, I didnt check on this myself so dont put too much faith in what I say lol) isnt really turning anything off. The "off" look is actually just a theme drawn over the normal theme and the true off is the normal XP theme, so if you're trying to save clock cycles, try using the default windows theme. <shrug> give it a shot anyways, maybe whoever I read that from was full of it
DLS2008
Feb 4 2009, 12:26 PM
He's using Vista so it's a different story. Vista has an Aero feature built in that's supposed to make the windows all special and junk. Anyways, it's just another way for Microsoft to waste more CPU cycles. So in Vista, reverting to the classic Windows look actually saves cycles.
