Alright guys, I have some special requirements for a new case. I have an old Scorpio that my 15 month old has murdered. Door wiring is all busted, he always hits the power button, etc.

So I need a case that I will be able to lock the doors to so he can not open the door, access the power or reset buttons, and also not be able to eject the drives.

To make things even better I am trying to stay around $150 in price but I am flexible. I also have a 3ghz PRESCOTT (laugh it up) running at 3.75 on air with a Thermalright XP-90 so I definitely have the need for good cooling.

Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciate any suggestions.

I've got a simple $30 case and I can lock the front door which covers the power, reset, and optical drives. Just look around, I think I got this one from Tiger Direct. Ultra is the brand, but it's just a copy off another, there are tons out there.

Basically the Chenming/Chieftec/Thermaltake and whoever else makes it, is a large enough case.

Is one. Many companies make the same design.

withstupid.gif that is the case I'm referring to...except mine has vents all the way up the front.

that'll work, it has everything you want. My modified version (Apevia X-Pleasure) is aluminum and is still pretty sturdy w/ the lock, now imagine that with that 1.0mm steal tongue.gif

LMAO don't be ashamed of the 'Prescott' I've still got a lowly P3-800 (amongst other stuff) laugh.gif tongue.gif

What kind of PSU do you have? the 12cm extraction (dual fan) PSU's help significantly with heat exhausting, though a cold air intake (blowhole) directly opposite the CPU works best IMHO wink.gif

You know after all the trouble of setting up a childproof case, they may just learn to master the power, sleep & wake buttons on your keyboard LMAO laugh.gif

have you thought about using an "ignition switch" setup with your power / reset buttons so only when the key is in & turned the buttons will function?

Also, you can stealth your drives so that there are no external buttons visible.

I know its not what you're asking for but from the sounds of your problem....these may offer some sort of solution for ya wink.gif

heheheh, you think simply taking the buttons away will work?

oh just wait. mine figured out how to unplug the UPS from the wall AND then unplug the pc from the UPS.

What you are looking for is a metal case with a lock that will take some abuse.

This Antec is nearly indesctructable. A little on the expensive side, but I bet it could sustain a few good kicks! wink.gif

Nevermind. It seems that the Antec has a plastic front panel.

I recommend this instead with an aluminum front panel.

$139!

Nevermind again. That doesn't have a lock. This is what you want.

id go with a cheming/chieftec case. tigerdirect as them cheap. u can lock up the front cover which is nice

withstupid.gif and if it does break...you can order a whole new case for under $40, so you could completely destroy 3 of those before it would be worth getting a pricier one. I've had my cheap one for almost 2 years, have taken it to 20+ LANs without a single problem with it, airflow is good in it as well.

I happen to agree with Dec on this one. it's a very cost effective case. based on an old tried and true desisgn... one that's shown it's abilty now for close to 5 years and shows no sign of going away.

I have bought several of these over the years... and sadly bought the MUCH more expensive antec rebadged ones too. same case, same quality, same results, just different price.

Alright, thanks for the help guys. I really would like something with a blowhole on the side but for 40 bucks I don't think I will have a problem going ahead and doing it myself. I will look at all the brands that have the design and that is probably what I will get.

Again, thanks for the help.

The Ultra Wizard.
I ordered it from TigerDirect, and one of the rivets were missing from the window. I called up TD and asked them to just send the small piece out, they said they couldn't. Then they ended up charging us for a whole new case, emailing us a shipping sticker, and having us mail the messed up case back to them before we could get the refund.
