I am buying a DJ mixer but its very basic as I want to mod it as im into electronics and really bored lol. I want to make a 2 or 3 band equalizer (low, high/ low, mid, high) and a 5 led vu. Anyone got any sites showing how to make these or has anyone got and schematics to make these? Ive made a 10 led vu before based on the LM3915 but I dont want that many leds, got no idea about an eq though lol. any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I just found the LM1036N. Would it be ok for bass and treble control? I would prefer something a lot more simple though, something with just a bass and treble control. Ive attached a pic for this to:
