Hey guys, just like the title says smile.gif

so last night i was up for around 4 hours straight.. i took my 19" LCD monitor apart.. then i dremmeled up my case a bit.. cut out 2 of the cdrom drives, the entire side of the case to the size of the visual area on the LCD, and then some small adjustmnents here and there.. mounted the lcd using L brackets and ive been monitoring the cpu temps..

Before Mod
Idle:30c
load:38c

After Mod
idle:37c
Load:45c

and as for the pictures i only have 2 (sorry)..

Here is the LCD running out of its shell and my computer running/open

Here is a picture of the computer after the mounting and all.. enjoy

i'd appreciate any kind of feedback.. im so dang happy with it smile.gif

WOW THAT THING IS HUGE!

Good job man. How did you enclose the montior? I cant really see but its quite nice looking.

Now thats intresting, remind me of one of the old "lugbooks" laugh.gif

EDIT: you do have some ventilation right? i'd hate to see the LCD die of heat sad.gif

well the monitor is open on the front, the back isnt enclosed except i glued a sheet of plastic over the power supply of it, didnt want to have it touching anything on my case..

the heat i was worried about but i have great airflow in my case..
i currently have 2x 80mm's on the front, the top i modded awhile ago and i have 2 case handles with a 120mm blowhole exhaust, an 80mm exhaust on the back, an 80mm exhaust on the bottom blowing down n im about to install some 120mm fans, probably in the front and maybe 1 in the back, the case temps arent that bad so im not vbery worried.. its been on for about 8 hours straight now and the temps are good so im not too worried

yea i've always wanted to do something like that, i probably could have with my old 15" lcd, but i ended up selling it.

how much weight does it add? i bet that's hella useful for lan parties biggrin.gif
BionicSniper
put a sheet of plexi in front of the screen
hardnrg
looks pretty cool... how about some pics with some light on the case to see the case?

can imagine that would be pretty sweet for lan parties... one less thing to lug about smile.gif

Thats a nice mod! It looks like it was done cleanly too. Congrats.

A 7 degree rise in idle and load isnt that bad...

Btw it does look pretty neat, and I agree with BionicSniper, put a piece of plexiglas in front of it to enhance the look,
make the plexi 1-2"s wider & taller and frost the outer area that doesnt cover screen then add some leds!!!

The non-frosted areas will be transparent (obviously) and the frosted areas will show the light so theoretically if you're skilled in etching you could make a sweet border instead of a solid frosted border... thumbs-up.gif

Looks awesome! Will this monitor be your primary or will it be a secondary of sorts?
m0rphr3us
not good with etching so im ruling that out, i may add plexi but i have a few small projects to finish up first

its my primary monitor for the most part but im using it in a dual monitor setup right now.. perfect for me because i go to like at least 1 lan a month and the case handles on the top make it so very easy to carry around
wanksta
NICE JOB !!!! thumbs-up.gif thumbs-up.gif

i saw the picture, and i actually have thesame monitor, and i ripped the plastic off of my moniter to have it running without the huge unecessary plastic border

sticking it in the case looks cool, but these moniters run HOT, so i would be very keen on the ventilation and temp factor,

i saw that a few peeps suggested plexi glass in front of the screen for protection, but u might want to make sure that it is really easily removable or you are atlesaset comfortable with the plexiglass, bcause it WILL add glare

BTW - what company monitor is that?
b/c mine came from a prebuilt comp.
