Ok I got a UV cathode light tube I had for about 2 weeks already and all of a sudden the UV cathode light started getting dimmer and dimmer and now its so dim and not bright that it barely lights up now to make the things in my case glow. I tried putting it on a seperate inverter and a new one and still nothing. Could there be a short in the wire or something and is there anyway I can fix it because I bought this UV Light very very far away from where I live and I don't want to travel all the way there just to return a 10 dollar light.

Just right off the top of my head it kinda sounds as though it may have been connected wrong, thus causing the premature burn out. Its probably best to start looking for another one imo.

yeah either the inverter or the unit as a whole is dying. no fix as far as i know. sorry mate

i had the same problem with an inverter. Switched to a new inverter, it worked fine. Try a few of them

As far as taking it apart and trying to repair it I think you would be better off cutting your loses and getting a new one. What brand is it anyhow?

dimness is the inverter, those things run hot and burn out all the time. i've had em go bad in a month several times.

the light is either on or off usually, dimming is the inverter. get a sunbeam one, they are solid

inverters are quirky.. they work when they want to sad.gif

I have a Ultra and a Vantec, both have been running for over 2 years now w/o any problems.. though the Ultra cathode is getting a little burnt now sad.gif

Ive got a logysis one on my main rig. Its over 6 months old and I havent had any problems with it. Although I do shut it off when I go to sleep most of the time.

Ive heard a fair share of stories about logysis inverters melting. A friend had two melt on him.

i have the new vantech ones. are awsom

not as Uv as some others but there inverters can only be used for the vantech ones.

Also i have a fan blowing at my 3 inverters keeps them cool

its better than my CCFL. My ccfl actually changed colors.
I was astonished by it personally.
I personally dont trust them after i have seen one bust, and it left a nice toxic dust all over my components. Nothing like going ahead and being the garage with a computer and a shpvac with a gas mask on.

i had the same problem with mine and it turned out to be the inverter

CCFL's contain toxic dust?#

(was planning on getting two lol)

The inverters are generally cheap and nasty, in fact the lights are, as well. Just buy a whole new kit, all you can do really.
