What are some good, cheap mods that can be made? I have coldcathodes, a LED fan, and plans for a new vent. I liked the blowhole(with energy drink can) that lucifersmagician made, but I already have plans for a top vent...is there anything else LIKE that that someone can help me think of? I'm not really interested in any more of the Generic mods...I've seen enough of those(light-up case feet, LED fans, Etc). I'm loooking for a more creative mod...I have an old CD drive and a power splitter that I don't need and can't afford to ship anywhere else...I'm thinking about doing something where the CD drive opens, but is taller and has a solid shelf(w/o hole in middle). Does anyone have an idea?

If you want it to be unique, chances are youll have to be creative and think it up on your own. Good luck, and let us see what you end up doing!

I know basicly what I want to do, but not how to do it conventionally. I mean, does ANYONE know how to take the top off of a CDROM drive,(so the CD platform is exposed) and still have it open & close?

take the top off? what top? there's the front faceplate and then there is the galvanised box behind it... and the cd platform is exposed anyway?

I mean so that you can store objects taller than a CD on it, and yet have them fold into the PC.

might be easier to use the frame of the cd-drive and take out all the insides... then make your own sliding tray with a linear actuator... because the cd tray is on the top half of the drive anyway... maybe you could move it down tho... that'd be cool if you could

There's an idea...
EDIT: Then I dissassembled that one upside-down, and THAT'S why I couldn't make it work for me!!! OK!
EDIT: a linear what?
EDIT(again):SAVAN, I LOVE THE IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
