Stay away from used, you don't know what you'll be getting. So save up another month or 2 and get something new.

New=warranty, tech support and rma.
Used= someone elses problem.
Sagittaria
sorry but the x-connect is bad too... i have it now and its given me nothing but problems
Shadowfactor
It still has a blank warrenty card so it will come with the Powersnap stuff....

But Which one is better for me or should I look at different models....
Ste
I would also stay away from used.
40 Bucks, Hrmm, the best one you could get is probably the 400W 39.99$ Fortron.
Archerzz
save your money and get something from targan, but dont by used. As stated above you never know if your buying a pos psu.
Shadowfactor
Just on a side note , I wont get a used one , But I found a OCZ modstream 450 watts for 39.99 plus 10 for shipping on ebay....

SO should I go with the X-connect 500 Watt for 29.99 ( brand new)

the OCZ modstream 450 watts for 39.99..... ( brand new but ends very soon so quick replies would be great!)

If those are your only two options, then order the Modstream, X-connects are great paper weights.
Shadowfactor
well unless I can find another PSU for around 40-50 bucks that would be better , then yaa those are my options

You have a system with very expensive hardware... yet you decide to go cheap on your PSU??? I don't understand the logic there... please explain it to me...

If you absolutely have to go cheap on a PSU that OCZ Modstream 450 might be ok for stock speeds, but beyond that keep a eye out on your voltages with a Digital Multimeter. My advice: Save up $80-100 so you can get a way better PSU.
Ste
I totally Agree, while I usally don't stress how much someone should spend, Because I don't know of their situation. I will in this case and reinforce kevs statements. If theres one thing in your computer that should have some thought and reasearch put into it, its the power supply. Ive seen to many threads on others forums where the problem was tracked down to a bad or insufficent power supply.

So you see, go new and get something that will run your system like I implied in my other post. The enermax 500w liberty is 109 @ newegg. it's worth it.
Shadowfactor
Fine you guys win geezzz..... I'll dig into my ram money to get a PSU

For that price you can get a powerstream 520 which will stomp all over both of them wink.gif

Why does it seem that a lot of people must insist on modular cables? If you know what you are doing with wire management you can organize regular cables very neatly as well. Here is what I stated in another thread:
QUOTE
Modular cables, accessories, etc. should NEVER be the main consideration for purchasing a PSU. Performance and reliability is always above all else.

Not to mention that modular cables increase electrical resistance, thereby lowering voltages..... Not to mention creating a additional point of failure if it ever happened.

If you have to have modular cables, I would go with the Enermax liberty or a Antec Neopower HE series.
Shadowfactor
Wires must be sleeved my case just doesnt like Wire managment very well....

So the Liberty is the best choice here and are teh Cables sleeved ??
CoolMaster
the antec neohe 500 watt is 99 bucks , that'd be a good choice

and yeah x-connects are crap, u wouldnt want to lose that 7800gtx would u?
Shadowfactor
Ok so

Enermax Liberty 500 or the OCZ modstream 520 ??

Either one will fit your needs. The Modstream has a mail-in rebate right now (newegg) that will bring the price down to $94 + shipping. Even without the rebate it's a dollar cheaper. In this case, I think that the Modstream is a better choice because it's known to work well with DFI boards (non-expert): linky

But I'm so sick of all these dang blue LEDs that I'd refuse to buy it just because of that...

withstupid.gif Red and black FTW!
Hyper Threaded
I think the Liberty is a better choice, it is more future-proof and WILL provide more amps than the Modstream. If you ever decide to, the Liberty will even do SLI.

And of course, don't forget that the Liberty won't mess up whatever lighting scheme you have. wink.gif
Shadowfactor
I just ordered a OCZ modstrean from Monarch , They have a 10 Dollar mail in rebate and one of the cheapest prices... It was 103.56 or something like that for the PSU and 2nd day fedex...
