Is it possible for a bad/dieing PSU to cause problems with the sound? Since changing to A64, my sound is scratchy and distorted, motherboard and card are all in working order, I'd assume. I tried the onboard sound and had the same problem, that really seems to hint to the PSU, to me at least.
Anything else that could be causing this spring to mind? Please post any ideas.
Still using the Tt 480w Purepower Butterly. I know I'll be replacing it with something else pretty soon, just not completely sure yet. System seems completely stable and content, running quite a lot of folding, too.

It could be theorhetically possible for excessive AC noise to leak from the PSU, but I doubt it. Even though thermaltake PSU's aren't that great, they should be able to meet ATX specs for AC ripple noise suppression.

i'd say the problem is more likely to be either a driver issue or maybe try a different pci slot...
i've got the same psu in one of my rigs and it's solid... i can't see how a psu would interfere with the sound to that extent...

Reinstall the Drivers for your sound card. Blow out PCI slot, or change it to a different PCI slot, also you could reinstall Motherboard driver set then, update Audio drivers.

Cleaned the the drivers and reinstalled them, with exactly the same result as before. I'll have a go at actually moving the card to another slot later.
Wish me luck...
