Has anybody seen this yet, I want to know what you guys think about this: ---> Click Click <---. I want it for the next rig I build tongue.gif , or maybe to replace the Tt one I have right now, but that would kinda be overkill wouldn't it laugh.gif ?
airman
maybe if you're using 2 340watt pelts or something...else it's major overkill imho.
Psychotic_god
Thats a nice idea too. Having dual power supplies...what cases support 2 power supplies in them, I've never seen them before, are there cases specifically designed so that two power supplies can be used?

omg a 1KW PSU they have gone mad!!!!

dude u could power 2 highend rigs off of that, i would just get a 510wt PC P&C because by the time rigs actually NEED that much power, there MIGHT be another standard coming out by then...

Thats exactly what I thought when I saw it, but for a moment I thought that I just not been there when this info was being passed out. I was like w00t!!! 1100W...and two words came to my mind: overkill....and cheese!

The original CM Stacker allows you to mount the PSU at the top or the bottom - no reason why you couldn't do both if you were so inclined.

Is this CM stacker BTX format? How else would you put a power supply at the bottom of the case without it interfering with the motherboard? Is there like a compartement under the case or something?
apostolics
they must be crazy to think that i would pay for a 1yr warranty that should be standard. and also they make you pay to have it stress tested and voltage tested i would be pissed if i knew they shipped stuff with out even checking it fiirst. i guess thats why u plug in a new psu and all of a sudden poooof all your cicuits are dead.
contra33
i will get one to power mt intel 433 celeron
because it has onboard video up to 4 mb
and onboard sound
Psychotic_god
Yeah, but $500 is nothing to laugh at for a power supply. I'd rather use the dual-power supply idea. Some people's computers cost what that one power supply costs tongue.gif . I though one of my friends was going to have a heart attack upon hearing I was going to buy 2 graphic cards at more than $500 each (him having no experience with computers of course glare.gif )
Kamikaze_Badger
What part of SSI do you people not grasp?

This is designed for high end servers that suck up huge amounts of power, used to run massive RAIDs and quad dual core CPUs with more RAM then you have hard drive space.

And, according to another member, the 850w had an overvolt problem with the 12v rail. +/-5v ends up being +5 volts, and that's more power then you're going to want. Like I said, if you have a RAID of ten drives, then it'll bring it down some. Also, through in some SLI'd $12k+ workstation cards.
Misuta_Yancha
you could always use one of those to run like three folding rigs at the same time laugh.gif foldon.gif
swifty11212
aint this the 2nd 1k psu to come out? i know there was another high wattage one.

That is just Frozen CPU trying to make money. The Power Supply already comes with a 5 year warrantee and is already tested at the factory. However, it is possible that something could happen during shipping...
fire_storm
I think enermax sell ones that go up to 1500 watts.
Kamikaze_Badger
You know what great thing about all this is?

YOU WON'T EVER NEED ONE UNLESS YOU'RE RUNNING A SERVER!
Ste
bah theres no such thing as over kill especially if u have the money.

So true, so true. But you have to say that for a regular gaming rig, 1100 watts is HUGE overkill. But Kamikaze_Badger is also right, its way too much for a regular rig.
Kamikaze_Badger
Yea, there is.

It's called overvoltage. And trust me, your graphics card likes a steady +12 volt rail, not a +17 volt rail.

PCP&C made a mistake by releasing the 850w to the enthusiast community, because of the overvoltage issues. It was designed for servers, not for gaming systems. Now, I wouldn't mind having one, but only if I was running three VPCs from it, and some Crossfired X1800XT PEs, OC'd to the MAX. Otherwise, you may actually fry your hardware over.
Ste
well obviosuly if theres a flaw with the design and construction of it, its not so good. obviosuly.
Kamikaze_Badger
And that makes it overkill tongue.gif.
Ste
i just realized i spelled obviously wrong.

Edit: twice.

OT/
No it comes set up an an ATX box but has a place for a power supply at either the top or bottom. You can take it apart and reassemble the case in BTX format if you want - some assembly required (instuctions included).

Ha, Ill have to look into that, I've kinda fallen in love witht the idea of two power supplies in your case.

Or, you can be yourself and give them hay.

There is NO crapING REASON that PCP&C should of released the SSI PSUs to the enthusiast market. You WILL most likely fry your hardware with one, because of the overvoltage issues. Like I said, these PSUs are made for high end servers! THE SYSTEMS THAT ALMOST EVERYONE HERE OWNS WOULD NEVER USE ANYWHERE NEAR THAT MUCH POWER! YOU WOULD FRY YOUR STUFF FROM THE OVERVOLTING!

So seriously people, if you think that bigger is better, go out and buy yourselves some quad-CPU boards with 128 gigs of RAM, and then see how much of an idiot you are.

And btw, incase you're a complete idiot, SSI = SERVER SYSTEM INFASTRUCTURE! NOT SMALL SLI SETUP! Do you know what this means? THIS PSU WAS MADE FOR WORKSTATIONS AND SERVERS THAT WOULD MAKE YOUR COMPUTER LOOK LIKE A crapING TANDY!

[/rant]

Now I know why several senior members here are about to quit.

Dude, we get it, no reason to get your Superman Under-Roos in a twist over a power supply.

Everyone just go out and get an OCZ or Antec P/s and be happy for god's sake. If ANY of you buy this P/S KB will have a coronary and send you the medical bill.

If he has a coronary, the only thing I would pay for would be the funeral service. If he lives, someone else is paying. cool.gif

No, I'll be laughing like mad when you fry $1k+ worth of components because you don't know what SSI is.

Then again, you're Christian folk, so it's ok for some of you to be simple minded.

Momma always said, Stupid is as stupid does. blink.gif
cdoggown
Christian folk? Who? Me? I, for one, am perfectly happy with my 520 watt OCZ, which is enough "overkill" for me. This seems like one of those basic "holy cow this would be dumb to waste money on" threads that doesnt really require an intelligent reply, let alone argument. Save your heated debates for the politics forum and have a good time for a change Mr. Negativity tongue.gif
Kamikaze_Badger
Aye, I appologize for any remarks I made against you cdogg. At least you have a brain.

LoArmistead however, has shown his lack of maturity and intelligence with his constant flames and blanket statements, and inability to reply intelligently to arguments. The entire right wing cries.

Omg this is so much fun...I guess. Yes, I did start this thread to see people answer how this power supply would be a complete waste of money, but something unexpected happened, I learned what SSI meant, so at least I go home happy tongue.gif , or something like that....

[Edit]

Ouch KB. Im not taking sides but for the record I have a great amount of respect for LoArmistead and I'll leave it at that for the record....

I've seem a few more moons rise than you, young Padawan. Going to threads with you in them just brings out the kid in me, I've forgotten how much I love arrogant, smartass little teenagers!

And weren't you going to put me on Ignore? Wait, you couldn't find the button, could you?

I had you on ignore for a while, but I realized it wasn't as fun around here without seeing your precious comments. wink.gif And I do beliveve most of us would agree that you are more prone to flame for no reason than I am, hence this very topic.

Welp, us hicks are all church-lovin, God-fearin' conservatives, and you, why you KB, are an intellectual. We don't deserve to have you in our ranks, you must move on to the party on intellectuals. Since none of my posts have any backing to them, that just makes me another one of those kooky rightwing conspiracists.
cdoggown
who would have thought "1100 watt power supply" would = "kooky rightwing conspiracists. "? LOL laugh.gif

[Edit]

OK...this is what we learned: this power supply is for servers, major overkill for anything else, and PSUs have no political side and it come from the bones of the stillborn.
