4 12v rails for 66A total! That's gotta put a neat little hole in anybodies pocket.

dang! 1000w? Looks like a pretty nice psu and since it is from Enermax it will probably turn out stable too lol.

I think I'll get one and run all my folding rigs off a single power supply

wow.. thats just ... wow .. you could run like 3 comps off that thing .... or like an arsinal of older comps ...
lmao .. a kettle, a table saw, an electric fire...

i guess if you into pelt cooling, you can use this psu.. LOL but still the electric bills gonna kill!
Kash
Aug 23 2005, 01:04 PM
Only benefit I see to this is that you can run EVERYTHING in your rig with it. Water cooling, peltiers, heck, you could probably even run a phase change system off of it. Though with a 1400 watt draw, electricity bills must be through the roof.
This doesn't seem to be a very viable option for workstations or server use. You need redundancy and efficiency for those setups, neither of which this PSU provides. Systems that need 1kW of power would have three 500W PSUs, one as a hotswap backup. Like the article said, this PSU is definitely for those who have a need to brag or have a need to compensate for something

Wow I can see myself using 2 of those!
Did I read correctly? Quad 12v Rails?!

Sure wish I had the cash to buy one of thoses ps. But I wonder what the electricity bill would be if you run a computer like that 24/7.

Even if it has active PFC (which I assume), the power draw from the wall is gonna be insane. Lets assume it can output 1000watts DC when properly loaded across all the voltage rails and the temp inside the PSU isn't too high. Assuming a efficiency of 75-80%, that PSU would draw 1250 to 1330 watts AC (what your power company measures for your electric bill). Most electric wall outlets can provide a max of 1800watts AC (120V X 15amps for USA), but its highly dependant on the circuit breaker it is connected to.
If the PC P&C 850watt PSU costs around $430 (@ the Egg), then I could see Enermax charging $500.

I think 1400 watts is kinda a lot when you look at it a typical refrigerator uses 1,000 or more watts. Have a computer that uses as much as a refrigerator

Aug 23 2005, 01:41 PM
hell, that psu better run the air conditioner, tv, and a rig for all that output... now thats a case for WTF DO YOU NEED THAT FOR. now back in the sane world, 500w all you really need for a decent overclocker.

Aug 23 2005, 01:57 PM
500 bucks for a pSU is way to much, I mean i'd much rather spend it on a nice video card.
It's cool, but one of those things thats totally uneccesary and only for bragging rights

Aug 23 2005, 01:57 PM
I could use that for my 2 SLI systems, a phase change, and a few pelts.
I want to daisy chain 2 of those together, MWAHAHA!

lol 1000W psu, wont the psu have like a vantec tornado as a cooling fan

imagine the amount of heat load it is handling inside that case

Just get one of those 300 some odd watt pelts.

1000W whew I'd hate to see that one blow up like my 600w one did. But, the new one is working fine and enermax does have great customer support.

haha 2 kilowatts.. yea that would be a bill of like ... $200/month i mean i thought the 600 watt psu's were pushin it. but who the hell needs this kind of power. surely no one rig out there can push this much usage i dont care if it had dual everything.

I guess with pelt cooled sli 7800gtx's and a big pelt on the cpu you'd need around that much power to run everything off one psu. Other then multiple pelts though I dont see the point.
If I had the money to throw around tho sure i'd get one anyway

maybe the dood have like 10 raptors in his pc

and has to have like a few 120mm delta FFBs that has a whole lot of Amp rating

a lot of people seem to think that 7800gtx's use a lot of power... 6800ultras use a lot more power than them...
slayer2cool
Aug 28 2005, 07:25 PM

the 7800 are more efficient or something like that . but i think the actual power usage only differ by only a small amount.

Kids.... the word of the day is O-V-E-R-K-I-L-L

Cool, but that's just nuts. 1400W pull? Good lord, that could blow circuits in old houses
