Well Ive been looking at my uguly greeninsh black xbox for about too long now and I have decided to mod the exterior to match the modded interior. Heres a concept pic of it.
The green jewel will be bondoed over, the whole top will be sanded smoth and painted saphire blue metal flake. And have two silver racing running from the front to the back. The grille on the sides will be flat black. And The 3/4 pannel emblem from a 69' olds 442 will replace the Green jewel.
What do you think? any ideas? suggustions? Ill try to borrow a camera and get some pics up as The project progresses.

Just be sure to take your time. Rushing to get done only screws everything up. Do a whole lot of thin coats of paint.

that design looks REALLY good. make sure you got good ventaliation for all that paint to dry up.

Yup Im already at about 4 hours. And thats just bondo and the first coat of primer.
When it comes to paint im going to sand all the way up to 1500 grit. (when im done ill probably lap my heat sink)

Edit:^ im doing it outside. Its about 85 degrees in the afternoon when I get of work and start it so it dries pretty quick

P.S. The racing stripes are probably going to be thinner and each stripe will have three lines. Very narrow line - FAT line - Very Narrow line

Looking at the pic before I read yoru post, I thought you had three blue lines, not two silver lines, just a minor perspective difference, but if your trying to pull of racing stripes, I didnt see it until you pointed it out. Still looks nice though!

the new one makes the silver lines stand out more, and is much cooler. good luck with your project while i stare at my stock xbox.

Yeah the are now overpriced, but up until they introduced their shopping cart that accepts more than paypal (used to be paypal only) it was a good place to shop...prices went up after the switch...

Nice job so far, makes me want to mod mine. But I'm to clumsy and impatiant. It'd end up looking like crap.

Heres a progress report. I have bondod the bezel, sanded 220, re bondod, sanded 320, Primed, sanded 320, Primed, sanded 400, Primed again, sanded 800, then Applied one coat of paint. Which gives me this.

Oh, and Lo, you were a little bit off on your xbox pic. I thik you were going for something a bit more like this:

Each letter in the 442 emblem is about 3" high by 2" wide.

And as far as the yankey/rebel thing goes how bout not.

Those letters arent a little...big? Can you center them and still have them look right with the crosses on the xbox?
