Hey guys!

My 3 year-old Kingwin case (KT-436WM-3) is showing signs of age. Whenever I turn it on, it makes grinding noises and I hear a low-frequency vibration emanating from the case windows. The sounds occur when I first turn on my computer or after an extremely long period of use, but after 5 minutes or so, the noise goes away. What stuff should I get (padding, bushings, mounts etc. etc.) for my case so that it's quieter and where should I put them?

Just to let you know, my case has 3 windows (Both sides [yes...both sides...meaning you get to watch the amazing motherboard tray] and one on the top). It is a very light case yet it is strong.

I appreciate any and all suggestions!

Thanks,

you got fans on the window i assume laugh.gif maybe it needs to be re-oiled.

check for loose parts/screws possibly. also check for wires touching fans

wink.gif Well I can guarantee that it's not your case making the noise wink.gif

It's most likely a fan, sometimes when a bearing goes they will make a grinding noise when they first start spinning and then stop after awhile. My NB fan on my mobo does that. You need to test all your fans one by one.

I don't have a fan on any of the side windows. I have 2 intake fans in the front, 2 exhaust fans on the back, and 1 exhaust fan on the top (that is in a window).

They do stop making the sound after a while so I'm pretty sure that you're right. I guess I better buy some new fans. But there is one other issue...my side windows will keep making a low frequency vibration despite new fans. How do I correct that annoying sound?

Most likely a loose screw or a warped edge. If you still can't find anything, you might want to see about maybe modding some type of gasket around the edge of the window.

Gasket...hmmmmm...I'd have to get some really soft and porous rubber tubing to go around the perimeter of the window. Something like the car waterproofing tubing they put around your trunk and windows in order to keep the water from entering (duh).

This might take a while to fix, and to get all the pieces I need. I'll keep you guys updated if you'd like.
