well yall can see the hardware i got in my sig. now the problem is i think my PSU is holdin me back from overclockin further. and i'm about to get a 6800 and try moddin it to 16 pipes 6 shaders. so that'll just add more strain to an already sucky PSU. i need one thats not over 50 or 60 bucks, but will be fairly stable. preferably something that will last me if and when i ever upgrade to a 64 bit setup.

for a good one i would say antec or ocz ... they both are good ... look at then on newegg to see what would best fit your application ... (im still quite new so someone else might be able to help more)

Your powrsuply is crucial for stability, 50-60 dollars wont cut it, you also mentioned that you plan on upgrading in the future... so you better make the invesement now to ge ta good psu

so whats a good PSU you would reccomend? i've heard OCZ's are started to not be as good as they used to be. but i dunno, i'm unbiased

personally i would recommend PC Power & Cooling if you want something that will last a long long time. if you cant afford it, go w/ the OCZ Powerstream. don't be afraid to drop a couple hundred on a psu. why would u spend hundreds on ur system (especially the vga card) but not on ur psu that runs everything? btw, pcp&c has awsome customer service.

Only the modstreams arent as great as ppl think...the powerstream 520 is probably the best bet for the money right now. If you really got cash to spend the pcp&c 510 sli is a beast of a PSU. Likev can tell you a whole bunch of options...or maybe you could do a forum search and find a multiple page list of good psus and their prices he wrote up a while ago *cough* tongue.gif

as i mentioned earlier, i also will want something that will run well when i go to 64 bit, and 6800 running 6800gt speeds. i was looking some antec PSU's on newegg, are they any good? they are much closer to my price range than the OCZ's. whatever i get muct be at or under 100 bucks. if you could reccomend something under a hundred that'd be great. also what kinda amps on each rail do you reccomend, so i can do some lookin around myself. and another thing, whats the point of dual 12v rails? lol, jw

i think what i'm gonna have to do is after i sell my video card, instead of runnin out and buyin a new one, i'm gonna have to use that money for a new PSU, and use a crap geforce 5200 for awhile. and once i get a little more money i'll go over to 64-bit, and then go for a 6800, maybe even a gt, in PCI-express.

EDIT I was lookin around alittle on newegg and this one looks like it might have potential. its got more amps on all rails than the OCZ powerstream 520, and has 5 star average rating on newegg. and best of all...its cheaper! what do you think? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817159026

Also don't overlook Enermax, they make some great PSUs.

For a good balance between cost and quality, with power, go for the Ultra 500 watt X-Connect ps. It's been very stable for me and pushes alot of power hungry drives, lights, cards, etc.. No doubt, the PC Power & Cooling models, OCZ, and a few limited others may be better, but I selected the Ultra based on it's quality reviews (many), price, and good looks. I haven't had an OCZ to compare it to, so I can't ay it's better, But one thing is for sure; Ultra has come a long way and builds quality power supplies.

Forton power supplies are the best value power supplies in my opinion. They have great rails and arent going to burn a hole in your pocket like an ocz or pc power and cooling psu.
