I finally decided to put up pics of the keyboard mod I was talking about a while ago(Markie may remember - he has the same keyboard). Evrything went fine except the red LED I had wouldnt fit the mounts it had and I was too lazy to get some smaller ones so I left them green. Well, here some pics in the usual crappy webcam fashion

That actually goes really really well with your case! Im impressed with the red curvy line on the hand rest too! smile.gif

Why wouldn't the red LED fit? What are these magical mounts you speak of? ohmy.gif

Guess mounts werent a good word - the little holes the the LEDs fit flush into. The ones I had were too wide to fit and I didnt feel like honing out the holes bigger so I left it like that.

The curvy lines are just a bit of time and masking tape while painting biggrin.gif

Lol, I wish laugh.gif . With a bit of practice its not too hard to get it to crinkle on one side but not the other so you can get real nice cuves and shapes with spraypaint.

laugh.gif Idea!! You could have just got a huge strip and cut out the curve (or is that what you did?)

Good idea! Thats not what I did though...I think it might have been harder that way when the line gets thin, and I would have had to cut out another inversee of the cutout. If it was against an edge though that surely would have been easier. I just lightly sanded everything to get the plastic "skin" off so the paint would stick, then masked off the black parts and painted it red, then took off the tape and cleared right over the red and black together.

Wow!! looks good makes me wonder why mine's still beige sad.gif
Also makes me wonder why do i still have this ugly logitech navigator loll laugh.gif

I spilled water on my wireless Microsoft Multimedia Keyboard and now half the buttons mute the sound on my comp. laugh.gif Maybe I should buy a new keyboard and try painting this one... Very nice job BTW, I like it.
BloodySunday
Very nice! Love Red and Black.
Ghost2520
That looks pretty sharp! I'm more of a neon green person though so I probably would have painted it differently. Still cool though makes me want to get back into modding.

Is that red like in BloodySunday's avatar? Or is it more pink (lightish red for the RvB fans) / maroonish? You did mention a crappy webcam, so I thought I'd ask about the colors.
kobalt
sorry this is a bit user posted image

You probably just short circuited something inside, mine had the same accident and i had to replace a tiny cap, but there was nothing that small where i shop so i took a bigger one and bypass the trace with wires now the cap hangs off the board but it works tongue.gif
Hushplz
Hey that looks really cool!
I think i might give it a try!

No its closer bloodysunday's red laugh.gif . Slightly darker then "firetruck red", but I know with the lighting and webcam it looks kinda pinkish blink.gif . The can of automotive spraypaint just says "gloss red".

Bleeble, sry bout your keyboard - its funny how everybody knows how bad food/drinks are for electronics but still eat and drink at their computers!. I know at least once a day i'm sitting at my computer with a can of soda and a sandwich or something, even after I've spilled drinks on at least two keyboards before. I wonder how many of occ eat at their computer too, knowing how bad it is laugh.gif (poll maybe?). Bad habits die hard biggrin.gif
markiemrboo
Think you should poll it smile.gif

I always eat and drink at my computer! Mainly eating though. Food is god (and good too)
Bleeble
::checks poll area:: hmm... maybe suggest it as an official poll? Those get more attention.

How'd you figure out which one to replace? There's only a small circuit board in the corner of my keyboard, so there's not too many variables. The worst part is I almost spilled again last night. One spill in 14 months isn't too bad... thumbs-up.gif

Looks good to me, did you do your case too? the paint matches very well.

OMFG THAT LOOKS SOOOOO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine is a logitech navigator, and i have more cpb's since i have a mouse wheel and tons of buttons but it wasn't hard really, the cap and part of the trace was burnt under the top black part then i took a multimeter and checked from where to where the trace was still good and i attached a wire to that point with a cap in the middle

Yea, the case was a beige SOYO mid tower. Cheap, no windows or nothing fancy, but nice sturdy steel and a removeable motherboard tray laugh.gif . Painted the inside all red and outside black/red with same paints that I used for keyboard, threw some plexi in different places and cut/modded a couple things and now i'm about as happy as I can be with a mid tower biggrin.gif
