I just got the 'Big Water' kit for my cousin and put it in. Turned the computer on and everything. Seems to be working fairly well actually, for the size of the kit anyway. The sensors have always been off on this board (NF7-S), it's a little sensor under the socket. It's reading 43C full load. It's usually around 5-6C off, so.. not bad at all.

Anyway, I just noticed that the two LEDs in the front of this case panel are... dead? If you have the case you'll know which LEDs I mean tongue.gif They are plugged in. Is there something I am missing here, or... they're just faulty, or what? Any ideas?

I'll post some pictures of this computer when I get the cathodes in, hopefully tomorrow. Might aswell. I am pretty pleased with how well the wires are hidden. Hate the case though. It's so....... urgh. It's the most annoying picky finicky case I have used so far. rolleyes.gif Oh, and the hard drive rubber grommet things do absolutely NOTHING to stop vibrations of the hard disk in this thing. If anything it's made the vibrations worse actually. Although I dunno why it's vibrating in the first place. It's a WD drive. My Maxtor doesn't vibrate like this thing does???

I'll stop ranting and moaning now and be glad it's (nearly) out of my way.

Hey. I got the same case as you and I also have the same problem as you with the front LEDs. I mean i plugged them in but they still don't shine... or am I doing something wrong?

My friend has this case and I must say I like it. The front LEDs worked no problem and the case is solid as a rock. Check and recheck connections, thats all I can say.

In all honesty, I just can't figure it out.

Done, done and done. Ive even taken my multimeter out and measured the voltage at the LEDs. Strangly, even though its using the 5v line, the reading is only 1.7v ish at the LED and I see no resistors or anything anywhere.

Sooo, I guess.... well I dont know really. Ill just have to leave them broke and hope he doesnt notice.

I've tried to plug the LED connectors everywhere... it's no use.. there's something wrong with the wires, i think.
dang, it's such a shame that they don't work sad.gif.

Hmm... I wonder.......hmmm.... time to blow something up I think (which is quite good, as I aint the the bestest of moods right this minute!!). Gonna try something. I'll post back if it works.

EDIT: Well, that didn't work. Tried running my own wire to the LED. Guess it aint a bad wire and the LEDs themselves must be dead or something..

DOUBLE EDIT: NO NO WAIT! I forgot, I had unplugged those LEDs because they weren't working. I just now plugged the proper plug back in, took a wire from the 5v line on a molex (red wire), touched one of the LEDs and they sprung to life. Gonna turn them off see if that magically fixed them permanently!!!!! brb!

TRIPLE EDIT: Yep, seems to have done the trick. They just needed a jump start biggrin.gif So, there's your solution it seems! Sadly nothing seemed to blow up in the process!

Right... now if i only could understand what you just did. withstupid.gif

  • Get a piece of wire
  • Put one end in a 4 pin molex, the RED pin.
  • Unscrew the front of the case (six black screws holding on the curvy bit)
  • Take out one of the LEDs
  • Pull back the black shielding on the LED leg which has a red wire going to it
  • Take YOUR piece of wire, which one end if inserted in the 4 pin molex, and touch (doesn't have to be for long) the other end of that wire with the LEDs leg
  • Watch your LEDs glow blue!

I have the Tsunami Dream blk with Blue fans and front lights. These lights worked from day one. We have sold several of these cases and never had a problem with the lights. Was yours the Tsunami Dream (100% Aluminum case)? They make the steel case that looks like the Tsunami but it is not Aluminum. The name for that case is Soprano series. A little less $ but we have never had a problem with quality concerning the Thermaltake products. Even thier power supplies are super, the AMP rating on the 5v rail=50amps, 3.3v rail=28amps, 12v rail=15amps. They are not overpriced either, have the same auto finish as the Tsunami case.
markiemrboo
Yes, it's a "Dream". Yes, it's Aluminium. No, it's not a Soprano. I ordered a Tsunami and I got a Tsunami. If it wasn't the right case I wouldn't evem have it right now, it'd be back in the post and I would be demanding the case I ordered.

No, the lights on mine didn't work, 'as stock', from 'day one'. Yes, I did find a fix for it (that worked for me, at least) so they are working now. Yes, I do tend to hate ThermalTake products.

WAY too much on the 5v rail and too little on the 12v rail if you ask me. I'll stick with my Antec thanks. tongue.gif

lol... spot the Tt fanboy... what kinda crappy psu has <18 amps on the 12v rail anyway... is it a 300W psu?

regarding the led's, mine both worked, i switched out the blue for a violet one tho smile.gif
markiemrboo
I guess it could be dual 12v rail blahness?

Well, I have no idea why they weren't working before. After doing what I did though they're working fine. I was going to switch them for different ones if they still didn't work.

Well I tried that and they only glowed for a moment while the wires were connected and they started to burn (bad smell). sad.gif
ps. they still work; haven't burned out.... yet
markiemrboo
lol I only VERY briefly touched them. As soon as I saw them flicker blue, it scared the crap outta me and I let go.. but they carried on glowing so..... smile.gif
Viper357
Oh... ok. tongue.gif Well i'll try it again in a couple of days. smile.gif

Hah, that's what you guys get for getting a watered-down version of the Coolermaster Wavemaster. Thermaltake can't copy-cat for shiz and when they do, they screw up. I suggest you go out and buy the only true original and that is the Coolermaster Wavemaster. I've had this Wavemaster case for about 2 years now and the front lights still work.

Yes, as you can tell, I am a big hater of thermaltake because they "take" Coolermaster's "thermal" solution ideas. That is not cool.

Sorry this post isn't very informative, but it does have to do with the Tsunami case. As you can see, I am comparing the two. tongue.gif

Once you get the case working, it's okay if all you ever do is just look at it and never touch it. laugh.gif Seriously though, it's not a bad case at all, it is quite flimsy, but it works fine if you're not rough with it.

My LEDs have always worked fine. I'm guessing this is just an isolated problem that happens with the LEDs themselves which Thermaltake doesn't make.
Dr_Frankenstein
hey mine dont work from day one aswell not to bothered though i have seen some pick of them and they look a bit poo
