I am ordering this case this weekend to start my new AMD64 rig. How would i mod the side for a window? Dremel to get window started and then a jigsaw? what kind of template shape should i use? square? rounded sides? i will be putting the rubber molding like what hardnrg has on his fan holes. I will be modding the top for 2 120mm fans for BIXII (Black Ice Xtreme II) radiator with a hole saw i have (114mm) and removing the 80mm fan hole grills with my holesaw too. I've never modded a side for a window so how would i start? and what kind of window should i put? plexi or acrylic? Thanks

edit: Oh, btw, i will be removing that ugly long metal piece in the case that covers the pci slots (to make them less vibrating) but since i will mod a window, i dont wanna see that tongue.gif

and yes i think the price justifies the case. (IMO, best bang for the buck for cases, as i have 2 Lian Li PC-65's)

This is not my first time modding, both of my PC-65's are modding quite much now.

when i did my window mod wut i did was had a skill saw with a metal cutter and cut the whole crap thing with that mark out wut ur cutting and cut inside the lines.....this makes ur case hot prolly messing up ur paint prepare for some sanding with really fine paper and painting if ur not ready for that then dont do it....but that is a great case u keep us updated and to get the window down use clear silicon or liquid nails (clear) and mayb 3 screws on each side u can stealth this and stuff too...make sure u dont cut out the window to big for the case measure the extreme points of the inside all that good stuff "measure twice cut once" as my father says so good luck happy modding POST PICS!!! biggrin.gif

with dremel it will work just takes a while longer must have patience biggrin.gif lol and a steady hand at all times no drinkings before modding :

i was thinking of a rounded edge square template, first using a dremel to cut a line on the edge of template, then using jigsaw just to do the straight lines, then stop at the curves and use dremel again. would that work?
RnDestroyer
yes, jigsaw for the fine point stuff it will turn out b e a utiful

ok, so how big should i make the window then? and what material?

I used my dremel for the entire thing, and I cut a perfect circle into my case.

My process:

1. Apply masking tape to the entire back side of the panel
2. Use a compass (or other template) to draw the design on the back
3. Cut out using dremel
4. File
5. Sand with increasingly higher grits
6. Cut acrylic to the approx. shape of the window, leaving about an inch of room around all sides
7. Apply 3m industrial strength double sided tape to the case and attach the window
8. enjoy

(sorry I don't have any closer pics atm)
