Ok, well, after much deliberation I have decided to make a switch. I download opera 7.54 last night, and I have to say....
Why did you guys not tell me about opera before?!?

This is so much freaking better than firefox. Its not as user friendly, but anyone with half a brain would come to love all the features this thing has built into it. Only gripe is that gmail isnt fully supported, but im sure theyll fix that eventually.
Other than that...
OPERA FOREVER!!

Not at all man. I thought I would never leave firefox. I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. Well, I now realize that i was wrong. There is something better than slicedbread, and its name is Opera

Welcome to the world of better browsing.

I'm glad you gave it a try.

I've been telling people for years that Opera is amazing... but noooo... some people are just to hard headed.

I as well love Opera since I tried it last summer and there is just so much you can do with it. Plus I like how it opens new tabs, with Firefox I had to get an extension to make them open the way I like them to open up.

You hardly notice the ads. But sometimes, they can be entertaining.

It was way to clutered for me when I tried it. I like how IE is like 2 toolbars at the top FF is 3 but its fine because the 3rd bar is the Boomark Toolbar.

If you could, please explain to me how firefox (on the right) is any more cluttered than opera (on the left)? In fact, it actually looks to me like opera is a tiny bit skinnier on top.
It all depends on how you set it up, you can definetly overdue it, but if you like minimilism it is easily possible with opera.

hey d3, we got another one

so who's next to hear "I told ya so" from me and d3?????
i remember getting frustrated with IE back in the day and looked up "worlds fastest browser" out of curiousity since back then I was still on a 56k and wanted as much speed as possible... After that day my jaw dropped at how much of a difference web browsing has become since then... It's been about 2 and a half years (I think), and Opera just keeps getting better and better... atleast try it out before you complain about it

as an opera user i tried firefox and couldnt believe how many addons you needed to use just to come close to opera's build in functionality. i wanted to check it out just to give it a try, but i wont be using again any time soon.
as far as clutter opera has all the toolbars open when u first use it so u know they are there, u can turn off literally anything u dont wanna see.
also the ad banner is obsurdly easy to crack

One thing that I like about Opera is that the tabs are actually movable and detachable. One thing that is a bit annoying is that I cannot set Opera to have only one toolbar (all that I use put into one bar, not much) except for tabs as I can with IE or FF; but that's probably because I'm using the free version and the ad window has to have room.
Opera is nice, but I still prefer a lighter system (I didn't like k-melon too much, although it's feather-light) as a base, and I am still very happy with FF. I will continue to use Opera at times, but I'm sticking with FF at least for the time being.
Hey, at least I ditched IE, right?
Edit: I cannot import anything from FF or Thunderbird. Do I need to get a plug-in for that?

I just used the default setup for Opera and I didn't see any real speed increase so I stuck with FF although I might give Opera another try. And I'm little to cheap to cough up the money to get rid of the adds and FF is right in my price range. Free.

That is no longer needed with the Opera 8.0 Beta 3... or any of the 8.0 betas AFAIK.
Google did some work on their end after they realized that Opera did support the full functions of GMail.

I think i'm gonna try Opera out for a while, and If I like it, maybe buy it.
But Meh, these compatibility issues make me don't want to use it:
Firefox is displaying that page correctly, but Opera is not.
