I need recommendations for two different paints:

1) I have a black Super Flower aluminum case (It's basically a Lian Li PC-65B produced under lax copyright and patent enforcement -- or it's the same corporation selling under a different name). You can see a picture here:

I have removed the top and some of the internal pieces and I want to paint them. As I said, they're currently black, pre-painted aluminum.

Does anybody have a recommendation of a particular brand or type of paint I should use to make painted metal parts Ferrari red??

2) I will be installing a drive in this pc that unfortunately has a white front bezel. Naturally, I'll want to paint the plastic black. Can I also get a recommendation of a good brand or type of black paint for plastic??

Thanks,
R.

well, it ain't a lian li - different grill and stuff.

i'd stealth the drive instead of painting it it if i were you.

personally, i couldn't recommend any paint method apart from the full-blown automotive layered technique... basically sand down to the metal to get rid of the existing paint, primer, paint, clear coat... it IS more complex than that, but if you don't do it the hard way, it will either look crap, chip/flake/scratch, or most likely, both...

so, for the metal, auto paints (primer, base coat (colour), clear coat, haha and wet-n-dry silicon carbide paper wink.gif)

the plastic bezels are a LOT easier, especially if they are a different colour to the case, just get some vinyl dye like Plasti-kote or Krylon (?) and you can just get some black gloss and you don't need to sand/prime/clear-coat... if you want to match it to the red, then you'll have to do it the hard way...

that's basically it smile.gif

I used Dupli color brand the last one i painted. Had very good results and no chips.

withstupid.gif I did a Duplicolor kit. Came with black base, color shifting mid layer, and clear. All 3 cans for $20

I like Dupli-Color too. When it finally cures it's really durable.
