Ok guys, I need honest and knowledgeable advice. (I'm new to this modding stuff but having a blast learning it. )
I'm running a raidmax 420w PSU.
Nothing is overclocked yet.
I have 3 lcd fans 80mm.
2 thermal activated 80mm.
1 90mm on my hs which is an XP 90
1 dual cold uv cold cathode
AMD 3800+
512mb matched DC (right now) Mushkin extreme ram (just ordered 1 gb more)
XFX 6600 256 mb video card.
Can this power supply handle it?
Since it not over clocked at all.
What should I buy to test it?
A rail to me is something a train rides on.
Talk to me!

Thanks in advance,
Raven

Well on a psu a rail is a volt line ex:12Vrail, it should with proper program tell you 12.00 or a bit more same for 5V
About your ps depending on the make, cause some say something but in real life it's another thing lol.If it's a reliable ps, it should handle that but if you want to be sure here's a watt consumption thingy wink.gif

ok this is what i have. i hope it's the right thing.
I'm assuming the 11.90 is the rail?

by the way that's me going into that fire! wink.gif

the 11.9 is your 12v rail... you also have a 5v and a 3.3v rail. however, never trust those programs. to get real voltage readings use a digital multimeter. the sensors on the mobo are simply garbage. im not sure what your psu can handle. i would think so as long as it is of good quality. i would just put it in and find out... haha Although if it is absolute garbage, it could blow and take ur mobo and video card and other componants w/ it lol but not all that likely.... im sure its fine smile.gif

That 12v Rail is to low. I had that problem with my Tt Silent Purepower 480W, which is actualy a really good PSU. I dont' have that problem with my current X-Connect 500w, which has been criticised here a lot, but I love it.

hummmm.
I just realized it's not reading my fan speed anymore. odd

Like CNUco2007 said, these programs are just to give you a pretty decent idea of all your stuff, but dont swear on them, still 11.90 is pretty much 12, that's 1 tenth of a volt less.
Depending on what's running at the time of your pic, i'd say it's ok unsure.gif

I personally don't like Raidmax as their PSU's have let me down before... Get yourself a decent Thermaltake Purepower or an Ultra X-Connect... Your PSU provides the blood that runs through your computer's veins, bad blood can be deadly... and was a pretty decent movie rolleyes.gif
Nagash
Lol, both Tt and Ultra make pretty crappy psus imo. Antec/OCZ/Enermax/PCP&C for the win.

I have always used enermax and have never had one die on me yet unsure.gif unsure.gif (Crosses fingers and knocks on wood....)

So far so good with the RaidMax. It stays @ 11.90 no flux, at least not on core center. I'll look into another PSU when I overclock this one. I'm still in the burn in process. But send me reviews. I'd like to read about some of the PSU's I have read a lot of good about X-Connect and TT.

But I don't want to dump millons into a Psu just for a name. Quality and price matter.

I have a raidmax 420w which i use 24/7 in my folder, right now its in my main cause i blew the tt psu. but it has been a descent psu, but i dont think it would handle my main setup that well. I still need to grab a multimeter to measure the rails.
tbone2sk
Your rails are not at that. You NEED a DMM to read what the voltage really is.

Thermaltake makes great cases, but they have never made a single PSU.

They relabel those crappy lightweight Super Flowers and sell them under their name....

Raidmax units are no better than Tt PSU's in my experience. Sometimes they are even worse.

I have to second the Antec/OCZ/Enermax/PC Power&Cooling vote.

GL!!
