So Calyco, myself, and a few of the guys here at Graceland U are doing this computer case mod class for a few weeks for college credit. We ordered some stuff from a few different online vendors, and here's my vendor report.
Most of the vendors I am content with, as well as the guys taking this course. However, one vendor in particular really screwed us over, be it with their product or with their service.
We got a guy doing a water cooled system, and he ordered some UV cathodes from elwirecheap.com. Everything showed up and he was pretty stoked about it all. He plugged in his cathodes - one bulb was half the brightness of the other. What a joke!
Calyco and I ordered some cathodes from this same company. We got our stuff today and we're pretty excited about it all. I didn't get an inverter from these guys because I'm trying to get some sound activation going on in this beast, so I just wanted the bulbs. Well, the bulbs don't come with the lines on them for identifying. Annoying, but easily remediable. Well, these bulbs are dimmer than Cal's old monitor (and for everyone out there, that is EXTREMELY dim). Cal ordered a 4" cathode. They sent the inverter (it's pretty nice, actually - in a metal box and everything) but they forgot the power connector, the switch, pretty much everything to use the crap thing. It's a good thing that the guy that got the UVs had all the power stuff so we could test.
Needless to say, we aren't too happy. The guy with the UVs called elwirecheap.com and bitched and they said that they would replace them. Cal and I are going to give them a call and let you know what the story is on all this.
I guess saving some cash isn't always the best idea.
What a load...
