I just replaced my Generic 400W PSU with a OCZ Modstream 450W. The Modstream cost me at least 5times as much yet i am not happy.....my old gerenic psu 400w had its +12v at around 11.80. Now my new OCZ Modstream 450W has its +12 at 11.67! Wtf is going on? As you can see i am very unhappy and hurt in my feelings// :'(

Does anyone knoe why/what is casuing my +12 to be so low? I kow i should use a multimeter, but according to SPEEDFAN my gerenic PSU has a better +12.....SPEEDFAN mesaured my old gernic PSU's 12v at 11.86. ANd now on the same system and same SPEEDFAN its reading my new OCZ MODSTREAM's 12v as 11.67-11.55.... that what pissing me off and making me want to cry.

Measure with a multimeter. The software reporting is often flawed.
gravy
ignore speedfan and any other software program like r_target said, only trust the MM

and dont worry, even if your 12V rail is weak, doubtful on that, it wont affect your cpu in anyway smile.gif

Yes i know i should use a didgital meter but i am sad that SPEEDFAN measured my onld PSU gernic +12v at about 11.80 and now on the same system (just replaced the PSU), my OCZ is giving poor-er results. Even without using a multimeter, shouldnt at least my OCZ be perfoming/have beeter rails then my old PSU on SPEEDFAN?

Dont you get it? i spent 170$ to replace my 40$ PSU but my 40$ was perofming better. if the coz was better it should of atleast showed higehr reults then the gernic one.

Dont you get it? SPEEDFAN MEANS NOTHING, SOFTWARE DOES NOT CORRECTLY SHOW VOLTAGES, GET A MULTIMETER AND STOP CRYING ABOUT IT

I see what you're saying, but I don't know how accurate that kind of comparison is either. There's really only one way to find out.

$170 for a modstream seems expensive... I got a PC Power & Cooling 510W Express for $230... MBM reads all my voltage rails as low... but my Multimeter reads them perfect. they are nice and stable biggrin.gif So yea, use a multimeter and if it reads low, then you can be sad lol

170$ australian.

Thats the thing. At load, the 12v drops from 11.67 to about 11.55v........this is what pissin me off. even my gernic piece of crap didnt perfom this bad. If i do get a multimetre thing and the 12v thing really is this bad, will OCZ replace it? Its not even 24hrs old/

They probably will. OCZ has great service and blazing fast turnaround time.

withstupid.gif But perhaps you shouldn't shout with all caps, maybe bold letters instead.

I have already stated in one of your previous threads located here to use a digital multimeter. For probably at least the 100th time I have mentioned on these forums please refer to the PSU FAQ.

Does the 'modstream' have the pots on the back to adjust rails like the powerstream? I am guessing no?

But really... use a multimeter tongue.gif

Um... acutally, today's computeres rely pretty heavily on the 12v rail, in the past it was the 5v rail.

this is why i strongly recomend the powerstream NOT the modstream......

but dont get me rong the modstream is still a superb psu happy.gif

I was going to use the Modstream 520w at first, but I got my TrueBlue 480w after I read horror stories about weak 12v rails on the OCZ forums.

He said $170 AU. Converting that to Canadian dollars would come out to be $159. More expensive, but you have to remember that AU and the U.K. pay way more in taxes then we do.
