Other than hating the fact that the paint comes off way too easy, at least it looks nice. Finally finished the 120mm blowhole too. I think I might paint the grill black as the chrome really doesn't go with the scheme.

Don't get on me about the wire management. I was in a hurry to get it back together so I haven't really had a go at it yet.

Here's a couple of pics for comparison. This is what it used to look like:

Looks good, that black really helps make the mobo and drives stand out. now you should paint the optical drives. either black or to match the tower or the PSU. thanks fer the pics

Didn't turn out half bad? hehe, It looks great. I was wondering if you could tell me your technique and which supplies you used to paint the inside of your case. I also want to paint the inside of my case black

Well, I used Duplicolor supplies only (I got it from Autozone) but I can't say that I'm really happy with the way the black went on. You can see in the pics that the black doesn't have a very smooth look to it. It's more splotchy, though it really only looks like in that in the light. I guess I'm just picky. I took the case apart entirely (drilled out the rivets too) and applied 3 coats of black primer to every piece. It basically looks like the pieces are painted matte black when they are ready for the actual color. Then I put on 3-4 coats of black for all the internal parts, being careful to allow time for drying and remembering to tape off the areas that would be white (bottom and top are black on the inside, white on the outside). I hand to sand off the original paint from the external parts with a mouse sander, and it was no picnic. I would like to take a moment to point out what a pain in the *** this project is, so be ready for that. I didn't have anywhere to paint other than the garage (unheated in Minnesota in March) and I had to dry the parts on the floor of my laundry room. It would've been easier if I had set up a place to hang the parts with mechanics wire for drying because there are contact points where the paint is all screwed up (I just tried to remember which parts would be showing when setting the pieces up to dry).

I went through 3 cans of primer, 4 cans of white, and 3 cans of black. That alone was about $50. I had bought 1000 and 2000 grit sandpaper but didn't really use it because by the time I had gotten to the clear coat stage, I had been without my computer for almost a week and was really getting tired of painting, so I pretty much just slapped on a couple thin coats of clear and was done with it. I'm going through some heavy personal stuff right now so my patience was just about nil. Not sure if it was the paint brand, the temp in the garage, or what, but I just wasn't happy with how the paint went on. Given how much I paid for the supplies and the mess I made putting it on, I wish I had just had my buddy in autobody paint the whole thing for me.

images taken with cameras can be deceiving depending on how the picture was taken. i can see what Ruenin was talking about though, when refering to the black being splotchy, but it's only noticeable in the last picture. The first three pictures appear smooth.

New updated pics! I finally got the acrylic window on today and finished the blowhole. There's some slight discoloration caused by the application of clear coat to the top as opposed to the other pieces which really didn't get much of that. Honestly, as much as I like the mirror finish, I don't like the yellowing affect the clear coat has on the white. I wish I hadn't done that, but it's too late now. Comments are welcome and encouraged. It's my first real case mod.
