the power supply i have in my computer really surprised me today. i thought it was a complete POS (came with a $30 case), but when i measured the voltages today with my dads digital multimeter, the rails were as follows:
12v: 12.66 idle, 12.8 load
5v: 5.01 idle, 4.98 load
3.3v: 3.36 idle, 3.36 load
i double checked them. i thought mebbe i was doing it wrong but i dont think so. by the way, the 12 and 5 rails were measured on a molex connector. the 3.3 was on a different connector that i dont know the name of

Wow I thought the high 12v rail readings from X-Connect PSU's were bad. The ATX spec calls for a +/- 5% voltage range on the 3.3v/5v/12v voltage rails. The acceptable range for the 12v voltage rail would be 11.4v-12.6v. With the high 12v rail you risk burning out/frying components inside your PC. Get that PSU replaced ASAP!

Use it as a tester on your bench

your +12v goes up to 12.8 under load from 12.66 idle? that doesn't seem right to me for some reason.

are you saying that by your testing, you figured out that it wasnt a pos? It still is a POS because it has such a horrid 12v rail.
