I bought an SPST switch at radioshack for $5, and it is very similar to the one found here http://www.frozencpu.com/ele-95.html, but it has three prongs on the back. I know that I will have to flip it up and then back, but that is OK. My question is how should I wire this so that it functions like the power switch?

To replace the ATX power switch you need a 'momentary' action not a SPST like you've suggested (AT is a different story tongue.gif) wink.gif

I know, actually I am using it as a main power switch as in the one you see in the front of the case, sorry if I wasn't too clear on that. It will involved flipping it up and then back down really fast.

But, the directions on that thread are kind of vague....Can you give a bit better explanation, because I am hesitant to fry my motherboard smile.gif

Eh, and I am trying to remove the locking mechanism to make it a momentary switch.

couldnt you just leave the atx power supply on, but cross the wires to the ones on the connecter to the mobo... i know there is a way to short the wires out so that it "jumps" the power supply, just find one that contains the main power and make it broke, so that when you flip the switch it powers it on....

i had the same i dea for a "power up" sequence where flipping a bunch of military switches would turn on my whole comp... i havenet finished the rig yet and havent done the mod yet

God I love mods, have a nice power switch connected to a little yellow box with a red button in the middle with a clear cover, thatd be cool, missle launching button to turn on computer.

Well enyone who was interested in this, I believe I have an answer. I PM'd xPETEZx and here is what I got. This is from a previous thread----

Very simpile.

Cut the 2 wires going to the Mobo Power OWN.

Then Wired one end to the Key Switch, the other end of Key Switch to one end of the Power ON button, and the other end of the power ON button to the Mobo.

Mobo >>>> Key Switch >>> Power Button >>> Mobo

But if this is a bit confusing for you, then here you go---

Right ok, first off, I would NOT recomend using ONLY a SPST switch.

As you said, you would hav to flick it back and forth very quickly. Which a. Could get very annoying, and b. will ware out the switch.

BUT if you have your mind set on it, here is how you would wire it:

I would RECOMEND that you either get a Push-to MAKE switch, and use that ONLY, or you could wire it like this:

If it was wired like above, you would need to flick the SPST switch FIRST, and then push the push-to-make (P-T-M on diagram) button.

This way your PC will only boot IF the Big SPST switch HAS been flicked.

I wired mine eXactly like above, eXcept for I used a Keyswitch in the place of the SPST (well, actualy, the Key Switch was a SPST aswell, just that u need a key to activate it)

Hope that helps.

If you have anymore Quieres feel free to ask and ill TRY and help you out. smile.gif
