I have only heard bad things about thermaltakes products on this forum, except for their cases. i was wondering if this Tsunami is a good one, and if this Xaser is from a reliable retailer. do you think the Xaser if worth the extra $10? i like the looks of the Tsunami better, but ive heard good things about Xaser.

This is my case and i love it. Good material(not plastic) and with lots of fans with fan controller. The obly bad thing is there is alot of wires but with good wire managment it shouldn't be a problem

on that little plastic flap inside the door, what is the purpose of the bottom fan? i can see an intake for the top fan, but it seems that the bottom fan is sucking in air through the door...
BionicSniper
the fans on the side are for

top one is sucking air off cpu i think...

bottom is bringing air to vid card

I HIGHLY RECOMEND THERMALTAKE CASES!!!
EXTREME BUILD QUALITY

i dont know which case to go for. same price. one i like the looks of better than the other (Tsunami), but the other has slightly better features (Xaser)
bishop245
TT cases are over priced rebadged cases made by other companies the xaser series case is made by chieftec/chenmig and antech though the antec may be another rebadge

the tsunami is just a rebadged coolermaster wavemaster case

oh yeah i am one of the people that trash TT anytime i get a chance biggrin.gif
Hyper Threaded
The Tsunami is a nice case, good airflow and not too noisy if you cut out the stock fan grilles and use nice Panaflo fans.

I had an Xaser case last year, I hated it, the airflow is very restricted and the mess of cables from the fan controller is awful to manage.
bishop245
the fact that the hardcano in those cases is battery operated means that when the battery dies the you have to all but disassemble the thing to change it out
Hyper Threaded
The Hardcano isn't strictly batter powered, or they weren't the last time I checked, my old one hooked into the PSU but, I do believe some of them use a battery to store memory settings. I'm not sure if the exact one in the XaserV has a battery, since it uses switches for the alarm settings, I doubt it though.
bishop245
i guess i goofed i am tired lol i should have stated its the lcd that is battery powered or atleast my cousins is
Hyper Threaded
Actually, the LCD isn't battery-powered either. Only battery used is on the Hardcano 13 (and I believe 12 as well) is for memory settings.

However, I do agree that in any case, the battery is a total bitch to replace.

If you're leaning towards the tsunami, might as well get the original, the case thermaltake copied it from (it's also better quality):
Wavemaster

I agree, Tt stole CoolerMaster's thermal solution, hence Thermaltake's name. What a phony company. I'd like to burn their headquarters down to ashes. I have the original and its great. I will never buy Thermaltake's products even if they sold this "Tsunami" case for $1. If you look at Thermaltakes "new" wink wink products, you can see it resembles mostly of Coolermaster products.

I don't really understand why people come out of the woodwork to bash Tt like it's going out of style. I'm not a hard core Tt supporter, and I don't really feel a strong need to defend the company, but it just seems like most people bash Tt because that's what the cool kids do. Most of the claims seem to be rather unfounded (when any are actually made). So the Tsunami looks like a coolermaster case? Is Tt really the first company to make a case that looks like someone else's? People are just looking for a reason to bash Tt because everyone else does. Tt has definately made some blunders in their day (their new hsf line is a prime example), but that's hardly reason to write them off completely. I prefer to judge the product, and not the company.

Having said that:

I think the Xaser series is horrible. To each their own, but I think that checker board crap all over them is horrible. The Tsunami is a nice looking case on the outside, but the inside wasn't laid out exactly how I wanted, and it was a little bit more than I wanted to spend. I opted for the Tt sViking Case and I was not disappointed. The layout is perfect for what I want, the outside looks great, and the price was right at a measly $70. I would buy it again in a second.

I hate Tt out of experience. Btw, my volcano 12 is on my P1

climberdude
i somewhat agree with Verran, in that once someone stars to bash thermaltake, lots of others follow suit. but in one of my other posts, i heard general concensus that Thermaltake made good cases, but none of their other products were good. in this forum, i hear other things. i dont know what to listen too. if anyone can tel me specific reasons not to buy thermaltake, i would appreciate it. please, try to be different and avoid "because thermaltake sucks" or anything like that

EDIT: i dont mind if the case is rebaged. i mean, its not like thats never happened beore.
roadkill
well, why dont you try one out, presonally test it out and then form your own opinion? Im sure there are some stores that will let you see the case first
climberdude
thats a good idea. if i can convince my dad to drive me to Fry's, they have one on display there (he just drove me there last weekend though, so i dont have a real good chance of going again this weekend.)

EDIT: Fry's electronics, not the grocery store
roadkill
yeh, watch the edges smile.gif also take a goood look at the interior, evaluate air circulation and such because most Tt's aret the greatest with airflow
Verran
Honestly man, it really depends on what you want out of your case. Maybe you know exactly what you want, maybe you have no clue, or maybe you're somewhere in the middle.

Some people just want "a case", and others want an exact configuration. I'm the latter. I never used to be, but after reading these forums for a few months, I started to see enough of everything that I got a really good taste for what I wanted my case to have. After that, I wouldn't buy a case that wasn't laid out exactly like I wanted.

If you know what you want, great! If you don't, take an hour or so and browse the case gallery, then head over to newegg and look around at all of the brands you've heard of, and maybe even the ones you haven't. Newegg is great even if you're not going to order from there, because they have REALLY great pics of all the cases from all the angles.

I said before that it's stupid to not buy something simply because of the brand, but it's equally stupid to buy something on brand alone. Figure out what you want feature wise, then figure out who can give it to you. Then go from there. That's my advise.

Some of the things that I looked at were:

Fan size (I wanted all 120mm fan mounts)
Blowhole or no?
Windowed or no?
HDD mounting configuration (standard or perpendicular)
Drive door or open front?
MicroATX, MidTower, FullTower?
Built in fan controllers?
Fan on window or not?

If you figure out all this stuff, I bet people here can give you some great pointers on cases to look at. Good luck!

I once bought a 180$ phasechange cooling from tt: the subzero 4g was promising the ultimate cooling, blabla... It lasted about 6 weeks till the powerunit failed, leaving my cpu without cooling. so my opinion about Tt's products: -they steal Cm's designs (not only the wavemaster, also the made a stacker lookalike)
-crappy quality, hence the subzero 4g
climberdude
yeah, i was looking at the subzero 4g, but one question in these forums put that out of my mind. anyway, im looking for a with:
Window
Drive door
Price<$120
Probably dont want a psu with it
At least 3 fans (front, back, side)
Preferrably one that looks nice smile.gif
Mid/Full tower ATX
Thanks everyone, for any suggestions

no it's not

it's a very similar design (aka copy lol) but it's different in many ways, some small, some quite big... the tsunami is a BETTER case than the wavemaster imo, that's why i bought it in favour of both the wavemaster and also the cavalier 3

i think it looks sexy and is a pleasure to work with smile.gif

OH, i got the COOLEST thing from work today!!!! they are stick on cable holders... they stick on with double-sided foam stuff and then it's like a ratchet-locking thing that you can undo!!! oh they are so cool!!! i got a pack of 100 lol... man they are so cool i could almost cry... laugh.gif i'm gonna finish my case mods soon and you'll see just how cool they really are hehe biggrin.gif
Pyrthas
hardnrg, or anyone else, my case (V1000) came with one of those things, but I couldn't find any more. I didn't look very hard, but still. Know where I could pick up some more (or where I should look)?
Varry
try this: Weigh a tt tsunami case, and weigh a wavemaster. You'll also imediately notice a difference in 'sturdiness'.

my bro has a thermaltake xaser 3 case in silver...it's built like a brick . house....all I have to say is it's solid...no it don't move are quite as good as others but I think that's more of a fan problem....I know that when I played around with the controller....it seemed nothing happend.

but could just be me....I know my 2 cases move air like a mofo!
