Well since there seam to be a lot of people playing
World of Warcraft (WoW), I thought it would be good if we started another one of the "Official Discussion Threads" like we did for
Kalonline and
Half-Life 2.
We'll keep this thread open, until such time that a MMORPG Forum is created here at OCC.

Yes, the request has been made, we're just waiting on the man to get it done.
So, feel free to discuss WoW. Talk about your characters, the servers, the game, or anything else related to the World of Warcraft.
You can also keep in touch with other OCC Members who play WoW via the
XFire messenger. And don't forget to list your character's information in
this thread.

I just hope people stop playing long enough to actually talk about the game.

Maybe when the servers are down, we'll see some discussion.

Hmmmm.... talk about the game.
Dont rush to hit 60! theres nothing to do except gather gear after that. Take your time and enjoy the game.
I stop playing and check forums all the time though. When im flying to a dif area
If anyone plays on aggramar though, give me a buzz, char name is Gholam. I have noticed the guild I'm in is full of computer geeks who talk about motherboards, chipsets, and video cards etc... all day, but I asked and none of them overclocks :/ various excuses ranging from "if I want better I buy better" to "I dont want to burn up my system".

Well now, been a while since I stopped by the forums here, but this gives me more reason to get back into it.
Anyway, I play on Uther ( 10 Chars. ) and Proudmoore ( 3 Chars. ) and I agree, rushing to 60 isn't the best idea, you'll find yourself getting bored quite quickly, only reason I'd say get at least one character to 60 is for farming, get lots of gold, start some new characters and spread the wealth, that way you can't get what you want, when you want it.
And remember, there is no one "best class," each character is only as good as the person playing it.

I suppose youve already uninstalled, reinstalled, and repatched a few times? possibly even tried somone elses CDs? And your watching the temps? Comp is prime95 and Memtest stable? if all thats a go then its some tiny little crap youll spend ages figuring out.
For the longest time I had horrible latency and couldnt figure out why. Turns out I was using ancient win 98 usb drivers for my cable modem. Got some new ones and WHAM all fixed. No other games ever had a problem with it though. Game is a bit picky. I installed the game at my friends house on his AMD 3500 comp, it worked great. Tried again later after a patch it it somehow screwed up while patching and then wouldnt work worth a darn.

I've had problems with WoW locking up my system form time to time.
Though I think that was mainly related to my OS. The system crashed a while back, and I never really did clean it up. Just installed Windows on top of itself to fix it at the time.
I finally got around to reinstalling last night. Hopefully I'll have WoW patched by the time I get home from work, and I can see if that fixed the issue. If not, then my problems could be related to heat or just WoW itself. Only way to find out for sure is to eliminate the problems.

I think it's rather sad actually. All my time, only one character; I have alts, none of which I've spent a great amount of time on, many of which I would get into the teens and decided that I'm not going to play them any longer and then deleted.

Ah, yeah, join the club on that one, I've gone through about 4 different iterations of "Kazuya." Warrior, Hunter, Warrior again and finally Mage.
My highest char is my level 45 Dwarf Paladin ( I've kinda been focusing on the Horde more lately ) and the rest of my 12 characters are all at various levels over 20.
Mages are fun to play, Rogues are as well, but I get frustrated with my Rogues quite quickly, so both of them are my lowest level chars on Uther.

I just recently started a Mage as my
main alt. He's at lvl 22 right now. WoW is actually the first game where i've enjoyed playing a caster. Usually I stick the a warrior-ish character, which can be seen in
my main character.

/played for me shows: 20d 3h 20m 58s
Though I think that command only shows for that character.

Yes... and might want to consider leasing your soul as well.

To be honest, you might want to hold off on the time card first. You get a free month for just buying WoW. Check it out and see if you like it first.
The game does have some issues taht are being worked on as far as lag and stability. Knowing that there are still
a lot of people who love the game... and there are some that don't. Best to find out what you think before getting a time card.

One thing I've noticed over time, I've pretty much given up on even bothering to get my collectors edition pets, whenever I make a new character. I mean blizzard made it sound like they'd be the equivalent of hunters pets, back when they announced em, not that I was disappointed to begin with, it just seems like a waste of time to haul around another item throughout the levels when I've seen and owned all 3 of them a good 10 times over.
That being said, I still love the art book.
I'm really looking forward to the battlegrounds as well, especially after seeing the new honor/rewards system, gives me more drive to play my Paladin and get those last 15 levels over with.

What else do u have?
Anyway ive preaty much reached a standstill to my leveling. Its either Stranglegank vale or Arathi. And after being in both for under 5 min i was ganked twice in BB(Booty Bay) and about 4 times in RP (Refuge Point). From what i can tell ive finished all of the duskwood and wetlands quests, but im still at a preaty low level to do anything anywhere else.

Too many Night Elves....

Honestly, has anyone else noticed that the majority of the jerks in game tend to be playing Night Elves? I suspect it's because they appeal more to the 12 to 15 year old males who don't have any real understanding of civility. I've been playing on my Horde characters a lot more lately, cause at least when the NE's are being jerks, I don't have to listen to them in addition to dealing with them.

Hey! Im a nightelf! Mostly because my friend lied about them getting a night time bonus and I was too lazy to read the manual.
I havent really noticed any one group being more annoying than another, but my server is also odd. All the other servers complain about being too many rogues and palas etc... my server all the classes look about equally played except priest, not enough of them.

Yeah... not enough priest anywhere... and the ones you do find usually suck. I've actually seen priest trying to tank... not because they agroed something on a heal, but because they were actually attacking! Stupid priest.
General
Mar 17 2005, 06:37 PM
one of the nimrods i tagged for on VC was doing that. He was trying to tank and he managed to pull about 4 pirates after which he kinda went into the red and i had to kill them while he was healing. Finnally i just told him off and he got all pissed at me and left the group.
Ah well.
But on the topic of priests. This one Undead priest killed me 3 times last night. I was mad.
It was probably because my friend killed his buddy. then he just kinda camped out the camp i was going too to turn in some quests.

Hey I play on Aggramar too! Feel free to drop me a line in-game. I'll try to remember to add u to my friends list next time I play. Time for sleep atm

Abrams: My main, hit 60 a few days ago
Loktovar: Primary Alt, 36 rogue
Pretty much all I do with Abrams now is high level raids. PvP'ing is quite a chore as a Pally. I pretty much end up doing the same thing as i do in high level dungeons. Sit back, support heal, cleanse, and try to keep the squishies in the back alive. Occasional kamikaze when I'm out of mana to try and be a distraction.
Rogues are a ton more fun in combat. Grinding is actually kinda fun with him.

WoW has consumed my life. My bro and I play as the Orcs Ugala and Ugali. I am the rogue, he is the warlock. We are at level 8 currently and putting as much time into it each day as we can.
Here's my question: My bro is pretty weak. I can easily survive fights that will have his warlock sreaming for mercy. I remember reading somewhere that it takes time for spellcasters to become powerful. At what level will he start to be able to hold his own?
Oh yeah, weapons............where on earth can I find a weapon that rocks at my level? I've got a dagger now that does a whopping 3-7 damage.
d3bruts1d
Mar 20 2005, 05:42 AM
Warlocks are pretty gimp... most of the ones I've seen around 60 still suck.

You can find better daggers on weapon venders, quest, player blacksmiths can make them, or at the auction house.
Zeni
Mar 20 2005, 02:40 PM
Yeah, Warlocks are only decent if you stick to one tree for talent points, otherwise you'll be dying more than you'd like. I played one up to level 18 and decided it was just too lame to continue with.
On the upside though, if you stick with it you'll have a nice Felsteed waiting for you at 40. =P

I was playing my mage (lvl 22) yesterday, and I've gotta say they are nice. Ended up getting in a group that was 3 mages and a rogue to do a 27 elite quest.
I've never seen stuff die so fast. I'm thinking that 5 mages could own just about any of the mid-level or lower instances.

The higher ones defiantly will require a healer and tank or two.

As far as higher level instances, I was in my first good group for BRD last night. Which is considered one of the first "end game" instances. That place was great... to bad we didn't get to finish it.

Can't wait to go back, and then head on to LBRS, UBRS, Strat, and Scholo...

Priest, druids, and all other casters are nice but get screwed in close combat. A warrior can use pummel which prevents casting for a few sec, but worse than that a duel wielding rogue can almost stop a caster's counter.
Though, I always love to see priest use mind control on someone... that has to be one of the funniest things.

On another note I took the plunge and went from stormreaver to stormscale. Im satisfied with my decision. I can play the game with full setting and not lag now.
OMFG! HOW CAN ANYONE PLAY A WARRIOR!!! IF YOU GET MORE THAN 2 ENEMIES ON YOU YOUR DEAD.
A) You cant escape in ANY POSSIBLE WAY!!!
B) You up to your ass in armor but it doesnt matter cuz you have practicly no stamina.
C) You attack slower than an old man walking through a busy mall
D) Rage takes forever to build
AGH!

I've been playing a number of different classes lately...
So far from what I've played I love my Warrior and Mage... I hate playing my warlock the most. Rogue, Pally, Priest, and hunter are ok... but haven't really played them past level 10....
As far as playing a warrior... it's easy to handle more than 2 targets. Sweeping strikes, cleave, and whirlwind are some of your best attacks. If you get to many on you, you have a "fear" shout which is very nice if used in the right spots.
Rage takes no problem to build... just depends on if you are using 1H + Shield, 2H, or Duel. Each set has it's own strengths and weaknesses.
Attack is only slow if you don't have the right talents, or you are using a slow weapon.

Sounds to me like you have a gimp Warrior.

I prefer my Mage and Warrior as well, fun classes to play, Warlocks are too complicated past 40, way too many spells and not enough function to them. I hear nothing but praise for Rogues, but to me it seems harder to level them to 30-ish than any other class, so I assume they don't get good till around 40.
That being said, Shamans and Paladins are equally the biggest powerhouses for each side, and are fairly fun to play, though they get stale once you pass level 40.
