When i was browsing the internet once i came across this case that was nothing but a skeleton/ frame that had no panels and was basically a chassie with minimal metal and a spot for a 120 mm fan to blow over the components.

i am having trouble finding it again, if anyone has luck or knows what i am talking about please let me know

thanks

Umm, you DO realize that antistatic bags are designed to keep static electricity OUT of the bag, right? That would mean that there's plenty of static electricity all over the outside of that bag, which is a BAD thing for your mobo.

Now, if you really want to leave your mobo out of a case, I would suggest using the mobo's BOX rather than the anti-static bag......

My understanding keeps staic from building up on the bag as a whole. If the charge kept building up on the outside and nothing on the inside it would act like a simple capactor, and the difference between the two sides would eventually lead to a discharge on the low end (inside the bag).

I'm no EE but to have it build up on the outside and not the inside doesn't seem like the best course of action. Either way nothing bad happened to it in the 4-6mos i had it like that.

DUDE u made my day THANKS SOOO much that is where i saw it, sweet

and i never dound static to be a problem and i have built like 10 setups, and it is a problem if u shock the mobo, i suggest touching something metal before touching a computer part, like a door knob, that is what i usually do
