Hi all Its one of your local newbs again!

So Im building a computer for my friend and Ive got everything set up perfectly. Its running great. Im jsut stumped by one thing...

The case is: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc....-144-076&DEPA=1

It has on the top ports to plug in headphones and a mic. Inside the case it has 2 wires that have pins on the end. They look like they should conect in the back of the sound card, just to move the plug rom the back of the comp to the front for easyer access...

The Question: Do I have to run these wires from inside the case, out the back and plug them in??? Would look a bit tacky dontchya think?

Have they never heard of HEADER PLUGS?!? Thermaltake has, thank goodness. That would look SOOO GHETTO, IMHO...

Yikes. I never did care for Aspire cases; now I have yet another reason to recommend Tt. Cool.

I would not use the top panel, in that case.

DOES THE USB GO THE SAME WAY?!? Or do those leads actually use header plugs? ph34r.gif

Don't those hings connect to somewhere on the mother board? either that or in the case, there should be connector ports on the actual sound card, the are labled.

from aspire's website:

Audio Cables: Since the audio cable connection is not standard yet, to avoid any confusions, we do not design our audio cables to plug on the motherboard pin. you need to bring the audio cables all way to the back of your case and plug it into the audio ports of your sound card or motherboard.

having the case's headphone/mic with regular 3.5mm stereo jacks on them is a blessing.. it means you can connect them to a real soundcard instead of the joke soundcard chips in pretty much all mobos... i had to make my own pci backplate pretend mobo header to provide pins... then i have short 3.5mm patch leads... looks pro... sounds great

Ummmmm....every Tt case I have ever seen used individual audio and USB header plugs, like these....'non-standard' be danged.

Trust me, its not as bad as it sounds. Infact its quite good.

not only can u route the wires behind the mobo so they wont show, but it reduces the chace of plugging them in upside and frying a few capacitors (experience)

TT just borrowed the lead desing from who ever the borrowed their case designs from with the exception that tt cases look stupid and the fact that i hate all things made by them i finally seen a shark case up close and personal and i didnt like seeing it on line and seeing it in person was even worse

Will you get off that Thermaltake thing already? They make decent products at reasonable prices. They don't copy designs, they follow trends. You have to follow trends to make money. dry.gif Don't like a Thermaltake product? No-one is saying you have to use it!

My Thermaltake case doesn't have the individual plugs for USB, it's all in one chunk now, the audio/firewire connectors are a different story... They're all split up.
