What exactly, other than the vDimm voltage, is the 3.3V line for? S far, I cant find anything else that uses the 3.3. specifically. If it's soley for the memory, then that means I can perform a vdimm mod that uses the 3.3 line and I can jack the volts up smile.gif

The vdimm=vio thing? I want to do that to my Neo2 when I get it too, so I am also curious as to what else uses the 3.3v line. My 3.3v rail is nice and steady according to MBM, 3.30v or 3.31v smile.gif

I believe on some boards the memory voltage comes from 5v which would leave the 3.3v line doing... what? Northbridge stuff I think?

Actually, Ii was thinking wrong in my first post. The 3.3v doesnt power the vdimm, but for a mod im doing, ("vdimm=vio thing" I've never heard of) the 3.3v line will be the source of power for the RAM. Actually, it's 2 mods. The first mod will be attaching a wire from the 3.3v line in the ATX mobo connector, to a FET (mosFET) that helps regulate the RAM's voltage. Once that mod is done, the RAM will be recieving power directly from the 3.3v line, meaning the RAM will be recieve 3.3 volts, instead of my boards BIOS max of 2.7v. The second mod is a mod for just about any PSU with sence wires. Since my new PSU coming in has sence wires for the 12v, 5v and 3.3v lines, I can install pots that allow me to set how high the voltage rails are. That means I can set the 3.3v line WAY up, therefore increasing my memory's voltage past the 3.3 limit, all the way as high as the pot will let me go (prob 3.5v, to maybe even 4v - talk about pushing the limits smile.gif ). Thats why I want to know what else is directly powered by the 3.3v line, because If I set the power up for the ram, some other objects might get fried :\

laugh.gif you had exactly the same idea as me. I was gonna do both those too!!! The ATX to FET, I think, is commonly referred to as the vdimm=vio mod tongue.gif

ahh, ok. Well so far, I no one really knows what else the 3.3v line is for other than misc mobo functions.

+3.3 V: It is used to run most newer CPUs, as well as some types of system memory, AGP video cards, and other circuits.

info came from here
BionicSniper
mine is at 3.1 and it doesnt change at all

my 12v is between 11.9-12.2 so its ok

here's another good link for the people that make the best power supplies
