Does anyone know how to mold plexi? I have looked it up on google and found that you can stick it in the oven at 300 degrees, Then I read that sticking plexi in the oven can cause an explosion. Anyone have any idea's?

i dont know about molding but bending plexi is pretty easy
get yourself a headgun from homedepot or some other suppiler
put the plexi on the shape you want it to be, like an arch or something
point the heatgun towards the plexi and it should bring he flex and bend
make sure that you go really slowly with the heatgun
if u heat it too fast it will bubble and that's BAD

Sadly it dosn't work with thicker plexi, i just tried with 5mm thickness and by the time you heat one part the other cools down.
I was trying to bend an 18 inch piece and it didn't work, result 18X9 by 5mm plexi piece ruined

ummmm with those thicker sheets you could try a heating strip
those work OK but they dont get as hot

ok yes you can mold plexi, i have been vacum molding plexi for a while now with stuff i found around the house and some plaster of paris. what do you want to make?
and for ur guys heatgun probs, yes it will cool down fast but if u have good judgement use a propane torch, but if u hold it on too long first it will become too ductile and then will start to bubble so be careful.
if you have any questions on vacum forming just ask, i used 1/8 inch thick peices of plexi tovecum mold and bend and never had a problem

Really, Do you think you can give a step by step explanation?? Is it hard to mold stuff?? I was just thinking of making a replica of the front of my case.
Thanks

i think you should get some thinner plexi and just heat gun it. otherwise if you use a propane torch you can burn it pretty easily.
good luck

i use a propane torch and keep the flame about 3" away from the plexi and move it quickly

lol its a monster truck made by HPI the savage ive had it for a while now, have too many cars tryignt o sell some off if neone wants one lol
but yea i foudn the links, and if u wanna do ur dirtbike dont plexi is too brittle especially when molded so dont put it in high impct areas
i did some tests with some Lexan but no go doesnt want to mold at all, coudl also beenthe thickness i was using (1/8 same as plexi)
here are the links, i just use the central vac the oven at broil and a box like theirs. the hardest part is making the plug.

Yeah, vacuum forming is a good thing to get into. Haven't used one of the little wooden block formers though, have been fortuante enough to use industrial type forming machines for the stuff I have done.
You always have to remember with it that the end result is only as good as the plug you make, so the more time spent on that the better.
